In her opening speech, Ms. Quach Thu Nguyet, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Sen Fund, said that the series of events “Rice civilization in the Mekong Delta” aims to portray a vivid perspective of the Mekong Delta through the depth of culture, people and history; helping the public better understand the journey of opening up the South, along with the opportunities and challenges in the new development stage.

A special highlight of the opening event was the launch of the “Mekong Delta Rice Civilization Bookshelf”. The project has been implemented for 3 years, currently developing a digital library application on mobile phones, integrating a variety of publishing types such as printed books, comics, ebooks, audiobooks and podcasts. The content focuses on the fields of agricultural extension, culture - society , and unique stories about the Southern region.
The series of events includes a variety of activities: Bilingual exhibition on the potential, challenges, and development orientation of the Mekong Delta; display of traditional agricultural tools, modern agricultural technology, high-quality rice varieties...

Along with that are 6 thematic conversations with professors, agronomists, artisans and experts on history, ecology, culture, rice varieties, and indigenous knowledge of the delta region.
Experiential activities for the community include: Making chocolate from Mekong Delta cocoa beans; introducing Robam ensemble art; “Bring books for ice cream” program; youth creative workshop; introducing sustainable cuisine and telling stories about indigenous knowledge.
The event series takes place until December 8.
