Mr. Nguyen Vu Linh, Director of Bach Ma National Park, said that from late October to early November, Bach Ma National Park experienced extremely heavy rain, at times reaching 1,739.6mm. Prolonged heavy rain caused many office buildings and ranger stations to deteriorate and leak; some ranger stations located next to mountain slopes such as Thuong Lo Ranger Station and Bach Ma Peak Ranger Station are at high risk of landslides due to mushy soil.
In addition, the forest protection patrol route on National Highway 1A - Bach Ma peak suffered serious landslides. Specifically, at km 9+500, a landslide occurred on the negative slope about 25m long, eroding the road surface by 0.5 - 1m. At km 12+00, the landslide was especially serious, causing the entire positive slope, negative slope stone embankment and road surface to slide away, the length of the landslide area was about 100m, the deepest was 30 - 50m, causing damage and cutting off the route, making it impossible to circulate. The landslide at this location broke the medium voltage underground cable supplying electricity to the Bach Ma peak area, leading to power outages and unsafe electricity use in the area.
Meanwhile, the forest protection patrol route along the La Son - Tuy Loan highway through Bach Ma National Park was also eroded in many locations. In particular, the stream crossing points (over 10 locations) were damaged, causing the forest rangers at the two Huong Loc and Mo Rang Forest Ranger Stations at the two ends of the route to be separated. Currently, the forest rangers have to temporarily move by the La Son - Tuy Loan highway to ensure their daily activities and work.

Mr. Linh said that, in that situation, the unit requested the forest rangers to withdraw all patrol forces from the forest to ensure safety. At the same time, the forest ranger stations have deployed measures to ensure the safety of officers, employees and property, organized inspections, cleared sewers, and ensured drainage on the roads, especially the patrol route, protecting the forest from National Highway 1A - Bach Ma peak. Along with that, warning ropes were stretched, danger signs were installed and notices were issued to temporarily stop receiving visitors until the problem was resolved.
"After the heavy rain temporarily stops, the unit will organize an inspection and assessment of the impact of the flood to synthesize and report to the competent authority," said Mr. Linh.
