Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Phung Quang Trung (29 years old, living in Hanoi ) confirmed that he was the person who restored the photo of baby Phuc's family. On the evening of October 1, Mr. Trung received a message from the baby's aunt. She discussed the situation of the baby and his younger brother who had lost their parents, and the baby wanted a photo of the whole family.

“After that, Phuc texted me directly. He expressed his wish that I take a photo of his parents and two siblings. Phuc is currently living in Lang Nu, and his younger brother Bao, 5 years old, is in the hospital in Hanoi. I heard about his situation but was speechless,” he said.

1.6 million cubic meters of rock and soil collapsed on Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province on the morning of September 10.

From midnight to 5am the next morning, he stayed up to take photos of Phuc’s family. He listened to the song “Flavor of Love” over and over again, while “picking up” every detail and facial expression of Phuc’s father, mother and two brothers to make the photos.

Upon receiving the photo, the boy said, “It’s so beautiful” and thanked the kind man. Meanwhile, Trung told the boy to wait until the nearest day, Trung will go to Lang Nu to personally give this photo to the two brothers.

“The aunt offered to transfer money to me. But I absolutely refused to take money from my relatives. I have been doing this job for many years now, and knowing the opportunity, I want to share the loss with the family. I hope these photos will preserve beautiful memories for the two children, so that when they remember their parents, they will still have a photo of the family before the natural disaster. Their parents will always bless the two children,” he said.

He also took another photo of a boy who is in grade 12 at Lang Nu. His father died last year, this year he lost his mother to a natural disaster.

“The boy told me that he had a broken collarbone and scratches all over his body. Luckily, he was washed ashore. He quickly crawled to his uncle’s gate nearby and was taken to the emergency room. When he woke up, he found out that his mother had died. I felt very sorry for the photos the boy sent because his face was very sad. I hope the photos will bring some spirit, helping him move forward strongly,” he shared.

Trung said the reason he carried out the project of making free restored photos for the people of Lang Nu village originated from his father. Trung's father was a cadre in Lao Cai. While searching for the victims, he saw a grandmother crying, looking for her children and grandchildren. Feeling so sorry, he called home and said: "Trung, please help them." So Trung contacted the village chief. When he gave his phone number and posted the information online, many relatives of the people there called.

Up to this point, Trung has received more than 10 cases of photo restoration for the people of Lang Nu.

“I hope I can do something to share the loss and pain of my people. I want to help them preserve beautiful memories with their loved ones, as well as help the deceased have a beautiful photo to leave peacefully,” he said.

Trung said he had many times restored photos for free for people during the COVID-19 season, photos of heroes and martyrs... but this time his emotions were really hard to describe. The loss in Lang Nu was too painful. He hoped the natural disaster would soon pass to bring peace to the people here.

When posting these photos on social media, netizens continuously clicked like. They said they could not hold back their tears when looking at the photos. “I feel so sorry. I hope the children will soon overcome and achieve good results in their studies. Their parents will always be with them,” said an account named Tran Van.
