Rice, pepper, cinnamon, star anise, cashews, coffee, tea, dried fruits and vegetables, spring roll wrappers, rice noodles, vermicelli, fruit juices, beer and wine… nearly 100 Vietnamese products were brought to the SIAL Paris 2024 International Food Industry Fair. This marks the first time Vietnam has participated in such a large number of businesses at the world's leading food and beverage trade fair.
The products that businesses brought to SIAL Paris this year all belong to strong sectors that Vietnam has exported extensively to European and other markets. Instead of just bringing raw products with low processing content as in the past, this time businesses have focused on product quality, packaging design, and brand promotion.
With rich content, eye-catching designs, and innovative approaches aimed at increasing added value, Vietnamese products are proving to be increasingly suitable for market trends and the tastes of European and American customers.
Concentrated in three areas organized by the Trade Promotion Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Promotion Center, and the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, the booths of Vietnamese businesses at the SIAL Paris 2024 trade fair were arranged with open spaces and a unified brand identity, showcasing high professionalism and creating a positive impression on visitors about Vietnam's dynamic food industry, aiming to provide high value-added products.
From the very first day of the fair, businesses took advantage of the opportunity to meet partners, not only to promote products and expand markets, but also to grasp international food industry trends, seek breakthrough ideas for their businesses to increase profits, and reach the global market.
Speaking with reporters, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen, Sales Director of Tuan Minh Production and Trading Company, expressed pride that her company's pepper, cinnamon, and star anise products are favored by many customers in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium for their unique flavors found only in Vietnamese spices. She believes that with products fully meeting market requirements, participating in the SIAL Paris trade fair will be an opportunity for the company's products to reach more markets in Europe and the world, contributing significantly to the company's success.
For her part, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Tuyen, Deputy General Director of Bich Chi Food Company, said that for nearly 60 years, the company has specialized in producing rice-based products such as vermicelli, pho noodles, rice paper, and rice cakes. In particular, the company's shrimp crackers have been exported to 40 countries worldwide. Having worked with SIAL Paris for many years, she has observed that customers are increasingly interested in rice-based products, so she is confident that the company's products will develop and be exported more in the future.
Leading a delegation of 36 businesses from the city, Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Promotion Center, said that the businesses participating in this year's fair are all reputable in the fields of spices, food processing, and beverages with a focus on health, and he hopes for many business networking activities and good results.

Visiting the Vietnamese booths on the opening day of the fair, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang said that the increasing participation of Vietnamese businesses in the SIAL Paris Fair in recent years has built a national brand not only in France and Europe, but also in other markets.
"This fair shows that Vietnamese businesses have invested more systematically and thoroughly to meet the increasingly high demands of consumers, not only bringing high-quality, health-beneficial products, but also meeting the purchasing power of regional markets. The large participation of Vietnamese businesses at this international fair also demonstrates the strong potential of businesses to expand further in areas where we have strengths, making good use of the favorable conditions provided by the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed with the EU and other trading partners," Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang affirmed.
Taking place from October 19-23, the SIAL Paris 2024 International Food Industry Fair is one of the world's largest and most prestigious trade fairs in the food and beverage sector. First held in 1964 and continuing as a biennial event for 60 years, SIAL Paris has become a highly anticipated event for businesses, individuals, and organizations operating in the food, catering, and hospitality industries.
The event is considered not only a golden opportunity for export businesses and food manufacturers to expand their markets and find new business partners through direct access to reputable buyers from around the world, but also a place for businesses and manufacturers to learn, exchange experiences, and test their products in practice, thereby helping to improve and enhance product quality and increase competitive advantage in the international market.
According to Audrey Ashworth, Director of SIAL Paris 2024, with the main theme "Mastering Change," this year's fair is very important not only to celebrate its 60th anniversary, but also to provide an opportunity for stakeholders in the food industry to address current challenges such as climate change, supply chain disruptions, and technological advancements. It also brings together experts from around the world to exchange ideas and initiatives, focusing on "business, discovery, and inspiration."
Therefore, during the Fair, exhibitors and visitors will explore and experience solutions in the fields of corporate social responsibility (CSR), AI and deep technologies, supply chain resilience, and Africa's emerging role in the food market.
SIAL Paris 2024 is expected to attract around 285,000 visitors from over 200 countries, along with 7,500 exhibitors, making it one of the biggest global food and agriculture events this year.
