Nearly 3,000 people participate in the program 'Capital Students March'

The program "March of Capital Students" was organized for the first time by the Capital Education and Training Department, attracting the participation of nearly 3,000 people, student representatives, teachers from schools in 30 districts, towns, and a number of international schools.


On the morning of November 10, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) organized the program "March of Capital Students". The event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training (1954-2024).

The program "March of Capital Students" takes place in the flower garden area of ​​Ba Kieu Temple, the street of Le Thach Street, Dinh Tien Hoang Street, the walking space of Hoan Kiem Lake area and vicinity.

Attending the program were Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha. The program was broadcast live on H1 channel, Hanoi Radio and Television.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong emphasized that this is an activity responding to the city's Creative Design Festival and effectively implementing the 2018 General Education Program, while enhancing aesthetic education, ideological education, politics , ethics, lifestyle, and behavioral culture, meeting the requirements of comprehensive education for students.

The program "March of Capital Students" was organized for the first time by the Department of Education and Training of the Capital, attracting nearly 3,000 people, representing students and teachers from schools in 30 districts, towns, and some international schools, with the participation of the Military - General Staff Ceremonial Group, the People's Public Security Ceremonial Group, students of Vietnamese, Lao, Cambodian ethnic groups, students from countries around the world studying in Hanoi, artists and actors of the Capital...

These are colorful flowers celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Hanoi Education and Training sector and the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day.

The trumpets, dances, drum beats, songs, and voices of the students of the capital brought to the program attractive performances, elaborately staged with diverse colors and high artistic quality.

Each performance conveys the children's love and pride for their beautiful homeland and country, demonstrating their artistic talent nurtured at their beloved school - where they study and practice every day.

The parade "March of Capital Students" is an opportunity to recreate the development journey of the Capital's education and training sector, while honoring the efforts and contributions of generations of teachers and students over the past 70 years.

Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, Head of UNESCO Representative Office in Vietnam, expressed his joy at being present at the event and shared that 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being recognized by UNESCO as a city for peace, and is also the time of establishing the UNESCO Office in Hanoi.

“I am particularly pleased to learn that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has implemented the Happy Schools criteria for schools, from kindergarten to high school, this school year. This is truly an important and exciting step towards creating a more positive and inclusive learning environment for Hanoi students. This initiative is fully aligned with UNESCO’s Global Framework for Happy Schools and our partnership with Vietnam in promoting inclusive, equitable and quality education, in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4.”

Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker also expressed his delight that the Hanoi People's Committee is interested in becoming a member of the Global Learning Cities Network - a dynamic, policy-oriented network established to provide inspiration, know-how and best practice models for learning cities.

"The “March of the Capital Students” program is an activity in response to the Hanoi Creative Design Festival, marking 5 years since Hanoi became Vietnam's first member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. As students march today in the heart of peaceful Hanoi, I hope they will feel proud and appreciate the heritage of their ancestors as well as their fellow citizens, from all ages and backgrounds. Hold your heads high, share your stories and achievements with international friends about peace, global citizenship, creativity and, of course, education," said Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker.
