ST25 rice wins 'World's Best Rice' award for the second time

In the delicious rice competition, more than 10 countries participated with 30 rice samples submitted. The results showed that Indian rice won third place, Cambodian rice came in second, and "Ong Cua ST25 Rice" won first place. This is the second time Mr. Cua's ST25 rice variety has won first prize, the first being in 2019.

Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper from Cebu, Mr. Ho Quang Cua said: "The ST25 rice winning the 'World's Best Rice' award for the second time makes me extremely happy and proud because Vietnamese rice has once again been honored with the highest position in the world." Mr. Cua said that the rice sample submitted for the competition was grown on a 2.6-hectare plot in Tien Cuong hamlet, Thanh Thoi An commune (Tran De district, Soc Trang province ), among hundreds of experimental rice paddies using biological preparations to prevent diseases and insects on rice plants.

"With these results, I hope that the ST25 variety can be included in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's One Million Hectare Project, so we can further upgrade Vietnamese rice," Mr. Cua hoped.
