The widespread emulation movement – the foundation for innovation at MB.
In this context, MB is one of the pioneering banks in making digital transformation a widespread emulation movement throughout the entire system. What makes MB special is that it views emulation not only as a driving force but also as a method to realize digital transformation goals at each position and in each department. The spirit of innovation and creativity at MB is nurtured by practical requirements: improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer experience, and building a culture of "continuous innovation."
Over the years, MB has continuously organized competitive programs, innovation contests, Hackathons, and digital product idea competitions throughout its system. Platforms such as “Creative Ideas - Connecting Customers,” “Flexible Idea,” “Smart Idea,” “Connecting Idea,” “Creative Journey - Aspiration for Growth,” and the “Customer Focus - Elevating Experience” competition have become spaces to encourage employees to propose practical innovations. Each competition not only creates new products but also sparks a vibrant competitive spirit, motivating the team to proactively learn and innovate continuously. A key highlight is the BeeVoice platform – where MB employees submit ideas directly daily. MB's leadership monitors, evaluates, provides feedback, and translates feasible ideas into the research and development process. Linking innovations to the criteria for competition and rewards has created a strong ripple effect, making innovation a daily routine throughout the entire system.
From that emulation movement, MB has developed many ideas, processes, and products with high practical application. This is the cultural foundation that helps MB not only keep up with the digitalization trend but also pioneer new models, enhance customer experience, and improve operational quality.
Creative competition - the driving force behind the aspirations of digital businesses.
Driven by a spirit of innovation, MB has built three digital platforms to serve customers, particularly pioneering the BAAS (Banking-as-a-Service) model, providing MB's products and services on partner platforms. In 2024, MB developed 783 partners with 1,210 APIs; projected to reach 1,600 APIs in 2025 – demonstrating a strategy of expanding digital banking services in an open, flexible, and deeply integrated manner into the technology ecosystem of the digital economy. The two platforms, MBBank App (for individual customers) and Biz MBBank (for corporate customers), have received significant investment and regular updates to optimize user experience. MB is one of the first banks in Vietnam to implement 100% eKYC, open attractive online accounts, and provide an online E2E loan journey from registration to disbursement and application approval directly on the application.
It can be affirmed that MB's digital transformation journey is a prime example of the harmonious combination of strategy, technology, people, and a spirit of creative competition, creating outstanding successes in its digital transformation strategy. The customer growth rate is exceptional. In 2020, the cumulative number of customers reached over 2.7 million; in 2022, it reached nearly 20 million; in 2024, it reached nearly 30 million; and in 2025, it reached nearly 35 million. MB's efforts have also been recognized with the Vietnam Digital Awards, The Asset Triple A Awards for “Best Digital Branch Project” and “Best Mobile Banking Application”, and the Sao Khue Award… In addition to technology, MB places special emphasis on digital culture and the development of digital human resources, considering this a decisive factor in digital transformation. Each employee is encouraged to learn, update their knowledge, and contribute initiatives, creating a proactive, flexible, and innovative workforce ecosystem.
Speaking at the 30th anniversary celebration, Mr. Pham Nhu Anh, General Director of MB, stated that the bank will accelerate its digital transformation, aiming not only to be a digital bank but also to become a digital enterprise. MB's ambition is for 50-70% of the group's revenue to come from digital channels in the future. To achieve this goal, MB is developing based on two main pillars: the MBBank App and MBBank Biz. This is the foundation for MB to continue expanding services, personalizing experiences, and offering products tailored to specific customer groups.
According to MB representatives, there are three core lessons learned in the digital transformation journey: identifying digital transformation as a core competitive advantage and a comprehensive innovation from mindset to operating model; unifying goals and actions, placing customers at the center; and maintaining a spirit of innovation and competition to create an environment that fosters new ideas and models throughout the system.
The spirit of "every idea is a seed," and each emulation movement as a catalyst for spreading the aspiration for innovation, has helped MB achieve strong breakthroughs. These emulation activities have become a unifying force for the team, encouraging them to commit, learn, and contribute to MB's development in the digital age.
In the digital transformation landscape of the banking industry, MB is asserting its pioneering role thanks to the harmonious combination of strategy, technology, people, and a patriotic spirit of emulation. Each initiative and digital product not only demonstrates efforts to improve but also contributes to spreading the spirit of innovation throughout the entire industry.
With a vibrant spirit of competition, a determination to innovate, and a desire to contribute, MB is determined to always be at the forefront of digital transformation, continuously promoting the movement of creative innovation to develop outstanding digital products, services, and solutions, contributing to the successful achievement of the goal of building an increasingly strong and modern banking industry.
