On September 10th, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, Pham Anh Tuan, personally visited the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) to work with the center's leadership on the issue of enhancing its activities to effectively contribute to the development of science and technology.

Professor Tran Thanh Van – President of the Vietnam Meeting of Scientists Association and Director of the ICISE Center – stated that for many years, ICISE has focused on fundamental scientific research, with four main areas: neutrino physics, astrophysics, quantum physics, and biophysics. These are cutting-edge fields where Vietnam still lacks a team of specialized researchers.
Simultaneously, the center is also striving to attract internationally renowned scientists and establish collaborations with leading research organizations such as the French Center for Aerospace Research (CNES) and the French Institute for Research and Development (IRD).
Several major projects are underway, such as the oceanographic monitoring station, the BIOMASS satellite signal receiving station, and the "Hotel for Science" concept. These are considered strategic steps for Gia Lai to both make its mark in the field of scientific research and open up opportunities for the development of science tourism – a relatively new field in Vietnam.
Professor Tran Thanh Van suggested that Gia Lai province should have a long-term support mechanism, especially in valuing and retaining international scientists, and at the same time create conditions for organizing conferences, seminars, and training courses according to the plan for 2025.
Professor Tran Thanh Van – Director of ICISE Center, held discussions with leaders of Gia Lai province.
"Maintaining a vibrant academic environment will help ICISE continue to assert its position and make practical contributions to the development of science and technology in the country," Professor Tran Thanh Van emphasized.
Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, Pham Anh Tuan, acknowledged ICISE's efforts and contributions over the past period. He highly appreciated the center's role in organizing international conferences and seminars, creating opportunities for Vietnamese students, lecturers, and scientists to access new knowledge and advanced research methods.
"ICISE has helped Vietnamese science integrate more deeply with the international community, while also contributing to raising Gia Lai's position on the global scientific map," Mr. Pham Anh Tuan affirmed.
The provincial leaders agreed to provide funding for ICISE's four key research areas during the 2026-2028 period, and requested the center to develop a detailed plan, clarifying resources, expected results, and outputs so that relevant agencies have a basis for evaluation.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee also supports the establishment of the BIOMASS oceanographic monitoring station and satellite signal receiving station, considering these to be important projects of international significance that need to be thoroughly researched and implemented systematically.

Regarding the Interdisciplinary Institute for Scientific and Educational Research (IFIRSE) under ICISE, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan suggested that the center continue to attract reputable scientists from around the world as well as Vietnamese people living abroad. This is a necessary direction to build a successor workforce, create long-term commitment to Gia Lai, and contribute to the development of science and technology in the country.
In addition to research, Gia Lai province also affirmed its support for ICISE to continue maintaining and enhancing international conferences and seminars. These events not only contribute to the dissemination of knowledge but also help promote the image of the locality as a prestigious academic destination, attracting the attention of the global scientific community.
