According to records on December 9, durian prices in the three main domestic production areas generally remained stable.

In the Southwest region, traders buy Ri6 durian of good quality for around 60,000 - 65,000 VND/kg. The bulk durian remains at a lower price, from 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg.

For Thai durian varieties, the purchase price is also stable: the beautiful type fluctuates at 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg and the bulk type is in the range of 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, the price of Ri6 durian of good quality is commonly around 55,000 - 60,000 VND/kg. Bulk goods are around 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg. Thai durian remains stable at 75,000 - 85,000 VND/kg for good quality and 40,000 - 50,000 VND/kg for bulk goods.

The Central Highlands region has not recorded any significant adjustments. Ri6 of good quality is being purchased at 52,000 - 54,000 VND/kg, while bulk goods fluctuate at 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg. Thai durian of good quality is priced at 72,000 - 74,000 VND/kg, while bulk goods remain at 32,000 - 35,000 VND/kg.

Durian production and export activities continue to bring great economic benefits, contributing to increasing income and shifting agricultural structure in many localities.

Currently, durian growers in Dong Thap are entering the peak of the off-season harvest. Although durian prices fluctuate at times, growers are still making a good profit at this time.

According to Ms. Ho Thi Xuan Dao, a farmer growing nearly 2 hectares of durian in Hiep Duc commune, Dong Thap province, the price of durian has increased compared to the first months of the year.

Specifically, Monthong durian (Thai) bought in bulk at the garden costs about 80,000-90,000 VND/kg, Ri6 from 50,000-60,000 VND/kg. With this selling price, after deducting costs, she still makes a good profit.

Mr. Duong Van Day, who specializes in cultivating 2.7 hectares of durian in Ngu Hiep commune, has just sold 10 tons of off-season durian and earned more than 500 million VND. Mr. Day said that the price of Ri6 durian is currently at 55,000-58,000 VND/kg, while the price of Monthong durian (Thai) is increasing, currently at 100,000 VND/kg.

According to Director of Phu Quy Agricultural Cooperative Luong Van Han, durian prices in the area still fluctuate continuously every week. Last week, Thai durian grade A increased to 105,000 VND/kg but now has decreased to more than 90,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, Ri6 durian was priced at around VND60,000/kg last week, but has now dropped to nearly VND50,000/kg. Another factor is that this year's rainy weather has reduced the rate of durian fruit set, directly affecting the overall yield.

Looking further, the durian industry is facing a big problem regarding quality, maintaining growing area codes and applying standardized technical processes for long-term sustainable development.
