Durian exports increase sharply, China continues to be the main market

Vietnam's durian export turnover reached 3.3 billion USD after 10 months, officially surpassing the record of the whole year 2024 by about 1 million USD.

In particular, durian exports to the Chinese market in October reached 562 million USD, an increase of 197.5% over the same period in 2024. This is a record high monthly growth figure in 2025. The cumulative 10 months of the Chinese market reached 3.1 billion USD, an increase of 14% over the same period in 2024.

The Hong Kong (China) market ranked second with 2.5 million USD, up 242%. Many other important import markets such as the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, and especially Malaysia (up 47 times) also recorded double-digit growth.

The General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (VINAFRUIT) forecasts that durian exports will reach a record 4 billion USD in 2025.

The recent surge in durian exports is due to a drop in supply from Thailand, as its growing areas have been hit by record-breaking rains and floods. At the same time, market demand is rising, especially Chinese demand for durian as gifts at the end of the year.

The good trend is forecast to continue for Vietnamese durian in the last months of 2025 and early 2026. In addition to durian, China's demand for imported fruits and vegetables is expected to increase in the coming time as this year's winter tends to come earlier and more severely.
