Ms. Ho Thi Xuan Dao, Hiep Duc commune, Dong Thap province, who cultivates nearly 2 hectares of durian, said that the price of durian has increased compared to the first months of the year. Specifically, Monthong durian (Thai) bought in bulk at the garden costs about 80,000 - 90,000 VND/kg, Ri 6 from 50,000 - 60,000 VND/kg. With this selling price, after deducting costs, the profit is quite good.
Mr. Duong Van Day, who specializes in cultivating 2.7 hectares of durian in Ngu Hiep commune, Dong Thap province, said that he has just sold 10 tons of off-season durian to traders for an income of more than 500 million VND. According to Mr. Day, the current price of Ri 6 durian is from 55,000 - 58,000 VND/kg. In particular, Monthong durian (Thai) is increasing, currently at 100,000 VND/kg.
According to the Director of Phu Quy Agricultural Cooperative, Luong Van Han, the price of durian in the area is constantly fluctuating. Last week, the selling price of Thai durian type A increased to 105,000 VND/kg, now it has decreased to more than 90,000 VND/kg. Ri durian 6 weeks ago was priced at about 60,000 VND/kg, now it has decreased to nearly 50,000 VND/kg. This year, due to the rainy weather, the durian fruit set has decreased, affecting the yield.
Party Secretary and Chairman of Cai Be Commune People's Committee Phan Thanh Son stated that there are about 3,000 hectares of fruit trees in the area, of which durian accounts for about 70%. Currently, farmers in the area are in the off-season durian harvest season. At times, Thai durian is purchased by traders at the garden at a price of 106,000 - 110,000 VND/kg; Ri 6 durian is from 55,000 - 60,000 VND/kg. Currently, durian is in high demand. This year, durian productivity is similar to previous years.
Chairman of the Dong Thap Province Durian Association Vo Tan Loi informed that durian prices are very unstable. While 4-5 days ago, the price of Mongthong (Thai) durian was still high, it has now decreased by about 20,000 VND/kg. Currently, Thai durian type A is priced under 100,000 VND/kg, type B is about 80,000 VND/kg. Particularly, Ri 6 durian is currently priced at about 70,000 - 74,000 VND/kg, but is scarce, because this variety is currently selling well. With this price, farmers still make a profit.

According to the Dong Thap Province Durian Association, the province currently has about 34,300 hectares of durian, of which more than 50% are bearing fruit; the output in 2025 will be about 500,000 tons. The province has 377 coded growing areas, corresponding to 489 codes with an area of more than 14,843 hectares, accounting for 43.2% of the total growing area of the province. Of which, the export growing area codes are 393 codes, with an area of more than 14,011 hectares, including 350 export codes to the Chinese market, 43 export codes to Japan, the EU, and Russia.
In 2025, durian production and export activities will continue to bring great economic benefits to farmers and businesses, contributing to increasing income and shifting the province's agricultural structure towards sustainability. In the first 10 months of 2025, businesses in the province exported 50,987 tons of durian, mainly to the Chinese market, with an export turnover of nearly 200 million USD. The export value continued to increase over the same period, demonstrating the reputation and quality of the province's durian products in the international market.
In recent times, with the close direction and coordination between localities, industry associations, and farmers' associations in the issuance and management of codes for growing areas and packaging facilities, farmers have become increasingly aware of the importance of registering codes for growing areas, complying with technical processes and requirements of importing countries. Enterprises have actively invested in raw material areas, equipment, and packaging facilities that meet export standards.
The Dong Thap Province Durian Association has stepped up propaganda and technical guidance for members and businesses, contributing to limiting the fraud of growing area codes and packaging facilities. Violations of regulations on growing area codes and packaging facilities have been basically resolved, ensuring transparency and prestige for the province's durian brand.
According to Mr. Vo Tan Loi, to increase the value of durian, farmers must cultivate in a clean and organic way. If farmers continue to cultivate in the old way, the quality will not be high, it will be difficult to sell at a high price, not to mention the impact on the whole industry. Therefore, farmers are now aware of this limitation, focusing on cultivating in the direction of improving quality. One of the important solutions is to promote value chain linkages between farmers - cooperatives - enterprises, towards a sustainable production, processing and export model.
In the coming time, the Dong Thap Province Durian Association will closely coordinate with specialized agencies to soon find solutions to handle the Cadmium contamination situation, protect the reputation and brand of the province's durian. At the same time, build a strategy to promote the brand "Dong Thap Province Durian" in domestic and foreign markets.
According to the Dong Thap Province Durian Association, the production and consumption of durian is still facing some difficulties. Subjectively, some gardeners still cultivate according to old practices and do not comply with technical processes, leading to uneven product quality. The growing areas are still scattered and not concentrated, making it difficult to survey, locate and manage growing area codes. Some packaging facilities have not fully updated records and books to trace the origin, and still depend on intermediary traders.
Objectively, the output in the coded growing areas is not stable enough, forcing businesses to buy from many sources, making it difficult to trace the origin. During peak harvest time, businesses cannot buy in time, leading to consumption contracts not being implemented on schedule. On the other hand, the adverse weather effects reduce the quality of durian in some areas.
