Opening the awards ceremony, Mr. Tan Quee Peng, Head of the AADA Judging Panel, reviewed the memorable milestones in the journey that has lasted nearly a year.

Launched in August 2023 at Marina Bay Sands (Singapore), AADA 2024 has received a strong response with more than 1,500 registrations on the official website, more than 606 successful projects, and 55 winning projects. The increase in the number of entries compared to 2023 reflects the growing interest in the award. Among them, there are countries submitting entries for the first time such as Japan and China.

The 2024 Asia Architecture Design Awards (AADA) ceremony took place with the participation of many architects, designers, leading experts in the fields of architecture, real estate... from 12 countries and territories.

The highly competitive categories include Commercial Building Architecture Design, Residential Architecture Design, and F&B Interior Design. In addition, the new category for Creative Ideas in both Architecture and Interior Design also received attention, demonstrating the importance of recognizing new ideas to move towards realizing future projects.

Since May 2024, a judging panel comprising experts, reputable scholars, and influential figures from Singapore, Thailand, Italy, and the UAE has evaluated and selected the 55 final winners.

Architect Tan Quee Peng, General Director of RSP Vietnam and Head of the AADA 2024 Judging Panel, said: “Choosing the winners was a challenging task for the judging panel. The diversity and quality of the entries, from the use of advanced technology combined with cultural elements and green vitality, resulted in many incredibly impressive projects. This year’s winners are a testament to the dynamic and developing landscape of the Asian design industry, perfectly aligned with the theme “Emerging Asia.”

The AADA Awards 2024 in Bangkok was divided into four parts, including: “Design for a Rising Asia,” which celebrates different aspects of design and architecture; “Architectural Design for Livable Cities,” “Connecting People Through Interior Design,” and “Asian Culture,” which honors companies that have demonstrated outstanding innovation and creativity.

Alongside major names in architecture from Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, India, etc., this year's list of winners includes quite a few Vietnamese entities with projects representing progressive thinking and national significance, such as: the National Innovation Center (NIC) in Hoa Lac (ForG Architects), Nam Me Kitchen & Bar (TD architects), À La Carte Hotel Ha Long (Boho Décor), Dhawa Resort Quy Nhon (Pegasus Binh Dinh Investment & Consultancy JSC), All Seasons Danang (Vietdeli JSC), Bada Gallery (Eurodesign)...

Speaking at the awards ceremony, a representative from TD Architects, whose Nam Mê Kitchen & Bar won the Best F&B Interior Design in Asia award, said: “I am deeply honored to receive this award. This is not only recognition for the efforts of the entire team but also a great source of motivation for us to continue to create and contribute. Nam Mê Kitchen & Bar is not just a project, but also a labor of love and dedication to Vietnamese culture, with architecture inspired by the meandering Mekong River. We hope that this space will become a cultural exchange point, connecting Vietnam with international friends.”

In the final part of the awards ceremony, a new season of AADA, themed “Vibrant Asia,” was officially launched. Accordingly, AADA 2025 will feature 30 categories across six main fields: Architectural Design, Interior Design, Retail Interior Design, Architectural Design Firm, Interior Design Firm, and Furniture Manufacturing & Retail Company. This includes new categories for Best Interior Design and Best New Architectural/Interior Design Firm.

Also within the AADA system, a brand new award has been introduced for architecture and design students called Student League. This is one of the highlights of the Asia Awards Organization (AAO) to create conditions for future architects and designers to demonstrate their talent, rich imagination and unexpected innovations. In addition, the award is also an opportunity to connect students with experts, receive comments and be a bridge to turn dreams into reality in the near future. The prize for the winner includes 1,000 USD in cash and a certificate worth 2,850 USD.

Besides big names in the architecture industry from Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, India… in the list of winners this year there are quite a few Vietnamese units.

As Gianfranco Bianchi, CEO of Italian Atelier and a member of the judging panel, shared, architecture is not just about physical structures; it expresses dreams, aspirations, and humanity. The Asian Architecture Awards 2024 concluded with the cultural hallmarks of a dynamic and vibrant Thailand, along with well-deserved recognition for the winners. Together, we will promote the continuous advancement of the architecture and design industry, creating social progress and economic prosperity, paving the way for a more interconnected and sustainable future.

Registration for AADA 2025 is officially open from now until February 2025. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in July 2025 in Seoul, South Korea.
