In the atmosphere leading up to the 36th anniversary of the National Defense Day and the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the atmosphere at the barracks of the 1st Infantry Battalion, 754th Regiment, is more bustling than usual, as the unit is coordinating with schools to organize many experiential activities for students.
From the barracks gate, rows of uniforms were neatly arranged, the loud, rhythmic commands echoed regularly, and the soldiers' footsteps on the training ground, or while touring the soldiers' living quarters, it created a strong impression on the students about the disciplined lifestyle of the military. Many students experienced activities such as folding blankets squarely and practicing marching formations for the first time.

Bui Quynh Anh, a student in class 6A1 at To Hieu Secondary School, shared: "I am impressed with the very scientific , serious, and disciplined lifestyle in the army. When I was shown how to fold bedding, I realized that folding blankets neatly like the soldiers requires a lot of training. I admire their perseverance. I will try my best to study hard and become a military medic in the future."

The spread of affection for soldiers is not only evident among older students, but is especially noticeable among preschool children with their innocent souls, easily moved by beautiful images. During experiential activities at Ngoi Sao Preschool and Chieng Xom Preschool, many children were delighted to be carried in the arms of soldiers, who kindly led them on tours of the agricultural production area. This image of the soldiers being so approachable and friendly left a very beautiful impression on the children.

According to the plan, from December 8th to 20th, the 1st Infantry Battalion, 754th Regiment, will welcome more than 1,500 students from 20 schools in the province for an exchange, visit, and experience with activities including: reviewing the traditions of the Vietnam People's Army, cultural exchange, martial arts demonstrations, and military regulations; visiting the internal affairs area, training area, and agricultural production area of officers and soldiers; and experiencing how to fold blankets and sheets…

Ms. Bui Thi Hau, Deputy Principal of Ngoi Sao Kindergarten, shared: "On this occasion, the school, in coordination with parents, brought 375 children to visit and experience the unit. To improve the quality of education and develop life skills for students, we always focus on experiential learning methods. For preschool children, activities that involve 'seeing, hearing, and touching' are very effective. Children observe the neat and disciplined lifestyle of the soldiers, thereby forming good habits and learning self-discipline in their daily lives. Participating in these activities helps the children become more confident, more self-assured, and more interested in exploring the world around them. We consider these to be valuable experiences that contribute to character development and nurture love and gratitude towards the soldiers from their early years."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Quan, Head of Political Affairs of Regiment 754, said: "To ensure the activities are safe and effective, the unit has made thorough preparations, from facilities to the team of officers and soldiers directly providing guidance. The content is designed to suit each age group, integrating knowledge of historical traditions, national defense education, and life skills."

In addition to visiting military barracks, schools also incorporate these activities into their lessons, coordinating exchanges and seminars with veterans, writing thank-you cards, and learning about military history through practical experiences at historical sites. These diverse activities have contributed to deepening students' affection for the armed forces, transforming experiences into lasting knowledge and emotions.

Military-themed experiential activities are becoming a highlight in traditional education in Son La, helping students understand the heroic traditions of the Vietnam People's Army. At the same time, they instill a sense of responsibility and a desire to excel, becoming good children and excellent students. This is a crucial foundation contributing to building a mature, capable, and patriotic generation of young people in Son La.
