According to information from the VTV1 news program broadcast on July 6th, the Criminal Police Department and the Cua Nam Ward Police in Hanoi arrested a group of touts and clinic staff who specialized in touting, insulting, and verbally abusing doctors and patients around the three entrances of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.
Initial findings indicate collusion and profit-sharing among touts around the hospital entrance and clinics.
For each patient successfully brought to the clinic, the tout receives a 10% commission on the examination and testing fees.
This group assigned roles, dividing themselves into teams of touts around the three gates of the Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, following patients from other provinces to Hanoi.
The scenario involves informing the patient that the hospital is under renovation, or suggesting they follow the patient to the examination rooms of department heads or the hospital's best doctors for a quick check-up.
Some people dressed in the uniforms of ride-hailing drivers or security guards to approach patients.
Clinic staff admitted to ordering incorrect tests or charging significantly higher fees for consultations and tests compared to hospital rates.
Hanoi city police are gathering evidence to initiate legal proceedings if sufficient grounds exist.
