
In August, Hanoi is the place to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) with many large-scale cultural and artistic activities. This is an opportunity for people from all over the country and international tourists to come to Hanoi to join in the festive atmosphere, sightseeing and shopping.
Right from the beginning of the month, retail stores, traditional markets, and shopping malls have been brightly decorated, with many attractive promotions on multi-channel retail platforms, advertising, and diverse gifts, attracting a large number of buyers, meeting the increased consumer demand during the month.
Total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue in August is estimated at VND81.6 trillion, up 4.8% over the previous month and up 13.4% over the same period last year.
Of which, retail sales of goods reached 49.7 trillion VND, up 4.1% and 11.5%; accommodation and food revenue reached 12.4 trillion VND, up 9.6% and 16.8%; tourism revenue reached 3.3 trillion VND, up 11.3% and 33%; other service revenue reached 16.2 trillion VND, up 2.2% and 13.7%.
In the first 8 months of 2025, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in Hanoi reached 615.7 trillion VND, up 12.6% over the same period last year.
Of which, retail sales of goods reached VND387.9 trillion, accounting for 63% of the total and increasing by 12.2% (gems and precious metals increased by 28.2%; wood and construction materials increased by 16.9%; food and foodstuffs increased by 12.6%; garments increased by 11.3%; gasoline and oil increased by 11.2%; cars increased by 10.8%; other fuels (except gasoline and oil) increased by 9.9%; household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 9.7%; other goods increased by 13.6%).
Revenue from accommodation and catering services reached VND85.2 trillion, accounting for 13.8% and increasing by 16.1% (accommodation services increased by 15.4%; catering services increased by 21.4%). Revenue from tourism and travel reached VND22.1 trillion, accounting for 3.6% and increasing by 21.4%. Revenue from other services reached VND120.5 trillion, accounting for 19.6% and increasing by 10.2%.
