Principal of Pedagogical College: 'Honoring the teaching profession does not mean elevating it over other professions'

"Honoring the teaching profession doesn't mean elevating our profession above others. Honoring the teaching profession is about recognizing our great responsibility and the meaning of our work," said Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son.

On the morning of November 20th, Hanoi Pedagogical University held a rally to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son - Rector of Hanoi Pedagogical University - on behalf of generations of students, expressed gratitude to the teachers, who have selflessly dedicated themselves to the cause of educating and developing the future generations of the country.

According to Mr. Son, showing gratitude to previous generations should involve reflecting on what needs to be preserved, what needs to be done better, and what needs to be more vibrant and adaptable to the new context. Gratitude must be expressed through practical actions, in daily work from small to large tasks, helping to make work more efficient and create more new things. We should strive to do such things.

"November 20th is an occasion for us to talk about our profession. Honoring the teaching profession doesn't mean elevating our profession above others. Honoring the teaching profession means recognizing our great responsibility and the meaning of our work."

"Recognition is meant to give us more strength, confidence, perseverance, and steadfastness in our work, helping us overcome hardships and challenges in life so that we can stay committed to and love our profession. Society also expects us to be worthy of that," Mr. Son said.

Addressing the students, Mr. Son said that on the path of teaching, teachers also need students. Students are an indispensable half of the teaching profession.

"You students contribute to fostering enthusiasm, providing strength, compassion, and love for the profession in teachers. With compassion, no matter what you do in the future, add that flavor to your work. That is perhaps the identity of Hanoi Pedagogical University," Mr. Son said.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Nguyen Tong Hieu Thuong, a student from class K73, Biology Department, expressed her good fortune in studying at a school with such a rich tradition.

"Our teachers are shining examples of teaching ethics, teaching us what it means to love our profession and the true value of teaching. We understand that the value of teaching lies in inspiring, arousing a thirst for knowledge, guiding generations of students towards humanistic values, and helping them become the best versions of themselves," Thuong said.

On this occasion, Hanoi University of Education organized a ceremony to honor People's Teachers and Excellent Teachers, awarding commemorative medals for contributions to education and prizes for outstanding lecturers and administrative staff, aiming to share and encourage lecturers and administrative staff.
