Taking on a challenging role, actress Hong Dao said she paid particular attention to the script and the plausibility of the story. Regarding the film "Taking Mother Abandonment ," she highly appreciated the script, noting that every detail surrounding the character Le Thi Hanh was logically constructed.
However, Hong Dao also had concerns about how South Korean director Mo Hong Jin portrayed Vietnamese women. Throughout the working process, the two sides exchanged ideas, analyzed, and debated many times to ensure the film retained the spirit and soul of the Vietnamese people.
This was the role Hong Dao craved so much that she jokingly said she was "willing to pay for the role if needed." But in the end, her acting ability and suitability for the role convinced director Mo Hong Jin and producer Phan Gia Nhat Linh.
Hong Dao said that when she read the script, she found her character completely different from the Alzheimer's patients in Korean dramas. She spoke with the director and producer to find a way to develop the character.
While researching the disease and studying some patients, including her mother's friend, Hong Dao realized that this illness was not just about forgetfulness, but also led to heartbreaking stories for the patients and their families.
She appreciates her fellow actors. Tuan Tran, Juliet Bao Ngoc, and the entire film crew helped her perfect the character. In particular, Tuan Tran works with the motto "each take must be better than the previous one."
With the character of Mrs. Le Thi Hanh, Hong Dao promises that audiences will both cry and laugh with a charming cast.
