Participating in many environmental protection campaigns, Nguyen Thanh Ha hopes that famous people in Vietnam will all talk about not littering, remembering to take home trash when listening to music, or throwing trash in the right place when going to festivals.

Miss Nguyen Thanh Ha shares her inspiration for living green in the Green Crown competition.

On the afternoon of March 8th, a book launch and discussion event for "Green Crown" took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, featuring the author and Miss World Environment 2023, Nguyen Thanh Ha.

This book chronicles Nguyen Thanh Ha's journey from behind the scenes of beauty pageants to practical, green projects such as: Mekong Green Embrace, Young Entrepreneurship Embrace, Community English...

The green crown inspires a green lifestyle.

As a Gen Z girl, Nguyen Thanh Ha wanted to write her first book, " The Green Crown," as a way to remind herself and to find common ground with friends her age who share the same goal of protecting the environment.

According to Nguyen Thanh Ha, green living is about being self-aware of each of your daily activities and being willing to change to reduce pressure on the living environment, helping to keep the surrounding space clean and healthy, reducing resource consumption, and avoiding littering.

"To achieve that, young people are the pioneering generation, and at the same time, they are 'helping' their parents and grandparents change old habits that are harmful to the environment."

"We young people will make Vietnam greener and more livable," Thanh Ha shared.

In *The Green Crown* , the author offers a perspective on the changing mindset of each individual towards their surrounding environment through actions within their capabilities, such as: not viewing the environment as something to be exploited, consumed, or destroyed; not treating wild animals as something to be captured, confined, slaughtered, or used for their livers, bile, or medicinal purposes; and learning to appreciate the existence of all species around them.

The Blue Crown Book

Being a beauty queen, then cleaning up trash.

In the book's afterword, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Dinh Thien - former director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics - argues that "The Green Crown" is not written in a showbiz style aiming to showcase, polish, and advertise itself as a symbol of beauty.

But it is simply a source of inspiration for action when speaking about a noble and challenging mission facing humanity: Let's strive for a clean and green world. And we, especially young people, should live responsibly for this beloved and very vulnerable world.

With the Green Crown , Nguyen Thanh Ha raises concerns about the value of beauty, a desire to explore herself, and a spirit of commitment to doing meaningful things for the environment.

As in the chapter "Becoming a beauty queen, cleaning up trash ," she wondered:

"Whether it's a newly crowned beauty queen or a beauty queen cleaning up trash, these are news stories that, to some extent, attract public attention and interest."

But will the allure of these beauties be enough to raise social awareness to a new level, when issues of green living and environmental protection are becoming increasingly "hot" as global temperatures rise?

She confided: "Anyone who has been to Singapore will surely be impressed by the cleanliness of this small country. And their beauty queens are rarely seen directly participating in a community-based cleanup program."

There, they talked about activities to raise public awareness about issues such as reducing carbon emissions, planting trees, and limiting the use of plastic products, which are further steps in the process of environmental protection.

Even after my term as Miss Vietnam ends, the series of environmental programs I'm involved in will continue to grow. Each one is a small thing, but I think I won't stop."

Nguyen Thanh Ha was crowned Miss Eco Vietnam 2022. Just one year later, she beat 65 contestants from all over the world to win the Miss Eco International 2023 title in Egypt.

Those tireless efforts helped Thanh Ha be honored as a United Nations Young Goodwill Ambassador and Outstanding Youth of Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.
