The first Miss World died at the age of 95.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Kiki Håkansson (from Sweden) was the first beauty queen to win the Miss World competition. She passed away on November 4th at her home in California (USA), at the age of 95.

In a statement sent to the Miss World organization, her children said Kiki Håkansson passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home. Her son, Chris Andersen, described his mother as practical, kind, lovely, and cheerful with a good sense of humor and a compassionate heart.

The Miss World website also reported the news and offered heartfelt words for her. "Kiki passed away in her sleep, and according to her children, she departed peacefully, comfortably, and with the best care," the Miss World website wrote.

The president of the Miss World organization, Julia Morley, shared the sad news on the competition's fan page: "We send our deepest condolences to the family and our love and prayers to Kiki's loved ones at this difficult time."

Kiki was a pioneer and deserves a place in history as the first Miss World. The memories of the first Miss World will be celebrated, and Kiki Håkansson will forever be in our hearts."

Kiki Håkansson (born 1929) grew up in Sweden. She won the Miss World Sweden competition in 1951 and subsequently won the Miss World 1951 crown.

She was also the first Miss World to wear a two-piece swimsuit when crowned. This was condemned by some countries with strong religious traditions.

From 1952 onwards, the competition replaced the swimsuit with more modest swimwear. Later, the swimsuit segment was reintroduced to the competition, but Kiki Håkansson remains the only person in history to be crowned Miss World in a two-piece swimsuit.

According to the Miss World organization, Kiki Haakonson is one of the longest-serving Miss Worlds. Her term lasted 475 days (approximately 16 months).

The Miss World competition has been held for 71 seasons, and the 72nd edition is scheduled for 2025. Currently, the Miss World organization has not yet chosen the exact location and date for the competition.

The current Miss World title holder is Krystyna Pyszková (from the Czech Republic).
