As expected, Miss Vietnam 2014 Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen was crowned the winner of Miss Universe Vietnam 2024. She is the first person to win both of the country's biggest beauty pageants.
Immediately after being crowned Miss Vietnam, Ky Duyen donated 500 million VND to support people in Northern Vietnam affected by floods and storms . She will represent Vietnam at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico this coming November.
The Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 final took place on the evening of September 14th at Phu Tho Gymnasium (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City). During the final, people in Northern Vietnam were suffering heavy losses due to Typhoon Yagi, so the organizers decided to cancel the swimsuit competition and replace it with a traditional Vietnamese dress (áo dài) performance.
Before the competition began, all contestants and attendees at the Phu Tho Gymnasium observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of Typhoon No. 3. The organizers announced that all proceeds from ticket sales for the semi-finals and finals would be donated to support people in the North affected by the floods and storms.
After the Q&A round for the top 5, the organizers announced the top 3: Nguyen Quynh Anh, Vu Thuy Quynh, and Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen. They then continued with the Q&A round, answering the common question: "Beauty pageants are essentially just entertainment. The winner cannot represent the beauty of women in a country. Do you agree or disagree with this view?"
Kỳ Duyên confidently and decisively stated: "The beauty of a girl cannot represent the women of a country, but her story can inspire everyone. Ten years ago, I was crowned Miss Vietnam. Ten years later, I use all my courage and bravery to pursue my ideal, hoping to proudly proclaim 'Vietnam' on the international stage. With this ideal, I believe I can encourage young people to live their lives to the fullest. This is the foundation for a stronger nation."
Ultimately, Ky Duyen was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, becoming the owner of the crown named "Million Dollar Mission".
The new Miss Vietnam, Ky Duyen (born in 1996, from Nam Dinh province), is 1.76m tall with measurements of 86-60-95cm. Ky Duyen was Miss Vietnam 2014. After 10 years, her decision to participate in Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 came as a great surprise to her fans.
In the preliminary rounds before the semi-finals, due to the pressure of returning to a competition, Ky Duyen did not perform as well as expected and was not highly rated. With over 10 years of experience on the fashion runway, in the final night, Ky Duyen broke through in the crucial rounds to win the top prize.
The title of First Runner-up went to Nguyen Quynh Anh. Born in 1999, from Hanoi, she is 1.73m tall and has measurements of 82-63-93cm. She is currently a model with outstanding looks, good performance skills, and fluent communication abilities.
Prior to this competition, Quynh Anh had won Supermodel Me - I Am a Supermodel of Asia 2021, was the runner-up in The Face Vietnam 2018, and was in the Top 10 of Face Of Asia 2019.
The title of 2nd Runner-up went to Vu Thuy Quynh (born in 1998, from Dien Bien province). She is 1.74m tall, with measurements of 85-61-97cm.
She has participated in many competitions: top 5 Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2023, top 10 Miss Universe Vietnam 2022.
The final night was criticized for some flaws, such as a lengthy script and the MC's occasional awkward interactions with the female artists performing.
