Nostalgic "The Ship Visits the Port"

During the historic days of May, the program “Port Visit Train” was tested to prepare for operation to serve the needs of visitors from inside and outside the city to visit the more than 100-year-old structure.

Closely associated with the city's history, Hai Phong Port not only symbolizes the dynamic development of the port city, but is also a " red address " in terms of tradition and culture, the place where Uncle Ho was honored to visit many times. Hai Phong Port was recognized as a city-level historical relic according to Decision No. 177/QD-UB of the City People's Committee on January 28, 2005.

Hai Phong Port is connected to Hai Phong Station by a railway system, thereby forming a short railway route from the inner city to the port, with the final stop at Hai Phong Port Station.

In order to diversify tourism products, create more interesting destinations for the city's residents as well as tourists to Hai Phong, Hai Phong Tourism Association coordinated with functional units and sectors to develop a tour called " Train to visit the Port ". The highlight is the journey connecting Hai Phong Station and Hai Phong Port, two works that are more than 100 years old.

Mr. Vu Quang Tuong, Le Nguyen Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company , the unit implementing the " Port Visit " said that Hai Phong Port was formed from Ninh Hai wharf of Cua Cam fishing village in the 19th century, built to become a bustling port, one of the first ports built by the French in Vietnam , one of the few ports in the world with a railway running close to the wharf. Currently, there are still many old buildings with typical ancient features.

During the 2-hour tour of Hai Phong Port, visitors will learn about the history of the formation and development of Hai Phong city, an industrial city and seaport. Visitors will visit the first main port of the Hai Phong port cluster, visit the Port Workers Monument, the Port Traditional House, etc. Thereby, they will better understand the formation, construction and development process of Hai Phong Port as well as the city.

The seaport has a history of more than 100 years, associated with the development of Hai Phong city, creating the name " Port Land ". But in reality, many people who have lived and worked in their homeland for decades have not yet set foot in the port. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, a passenger on the " Port Visit Train " trial run in mid-May, expressed that she did not think that in the middle of the seaport service production area there would be such ancient and lovely corners. The tour brings visitors interesting nostalgic experiences, as well as simple emotions about the port city of Hai Phong, thereby arousing pride in their homeland.

Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, Permanent Vice President of Hai Phong Tourism Association, said that the " Port Visit Train " is expected to be tested with a frequency of 1-2 trips/week, then it can be expanded to 1 trip/day to serve tourists. When Hoang Dieu Port is relocated and stopped operating, it is expected to operate 2 trips/day during off-peak hours, minimizing the impact on road traffic. The number of train cars will also be arranged appropriately for the number of tourists. Units are also studying the plan to organize glass train cars with panoramic views to create more interesting experiences for tourists./.
