Nostalgia for "The Port Visit Train"

During the historic month of May, the "Port Visit" program was tested in preparation for its launch, serving the needs of tourists from within and outside the city who wish to visit this more than 100-year-old landmark.

Closely linked to the city's history, Hai Phong Port not only symbolizes the dynamic development of the port city, but also represents a significant historical and cultural site , having had the honor of welcoming President Ho Chi Minh on numerous occasions. Hai Phong Port was recognized as a city-level historical relic by Decision No. 177/QD-UB of the People's Committee of Hai Phong City dated January 28, 2005.

Hai Phong Port is connected to Hai Phong Railway Station by a railway system, thus forming a short rail transport route from the city center to the port, with the final stop at Hai Phong Port Station.

To diversify tourism products and create more interesting destinations for both city residents and tourists visiting Hai Phong, the Hai Phong Tourism Association, in coordination with relevant agencies and departments, is developing a tour called " The Port Visit Train Trip ". The highlight is the journey connecting Hai Phong Railway Station and Hai Phong Port, two structures over 100 years old.

Mr. Vu Quang Tuong, from Le Nguyen Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company , the unit operating the " Port Visit Cruise ," said that Hai Phong Port originated from Ninh Hai wharf of Cua Cam fishing village in the 19th century. It was developed into a bustling port, one of the first ports built by the French in Vietnam , and one of the few ports in the world with a railway running right next to the wharf. Currently, many old buildings with distinctive historical features remain.

During the two-hour tour of Hai Phong Port, visitors will learn about the history and development of Hai Phong city, an industrial and port city. Visitors will visit the first main port of the Hai Phong port complex, see the Monument to Port Workers, the Port's Traditional House, etc. Through this, they will gain a better understanding of the formation, construction, and development of Hai Phong Port and the city.

The port has a history of over 100 years, closely linked to the development of Hai Phong city, giving it the nickname " Port City ". However, in reality, many people who have lived and worked in their hometown for decades have never set foot in the port. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, a passenger on the trial " Port Visiting Boat " run in mid-May, expressed that she didn't expect to find such charming, ancient corners amidst the port's production and service area. The tour offers visitors interesting nostalgic experiences and simple emotions about Hai Phong Port City, thereby evoking pride in their hometown.

According to Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Tourism Association , the " Port Visit Train " is expected to run on a trial basis with a frequency of 1-2 trips per week, and then may be expanded to 1 trip per day to serve tourists. Once Hoang Dieu Port is relocated and ceases operation, it is planned to operate 2 trips per day during off-peak hours, minimizing the impact on road traffic. The number of train carriages will also be arranged to suit the number of tourists. The relevant units are also studying the option of organizing glass-enclosed carriages with panoramic views to create an even more interesting experience for tourists.
