Hoan Kiem: Giving gifts, medical examination and treatment, showing gratitude to families of war invalids and martyrs

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Hong Trang, Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee emphasized that, promoting the fine tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the nation, over the past years, the Party Committee, government and people of Hoan Kiem Ward have always paid deep attention to war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution. Hoan Kiem Ward also determined that caring for people with meritorious services is not only a political responsibility, but also a morality, a pride of a locality rich in revolutionary traditions.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward said that currently, in Hoan Kiem Ward, there is 1 Vietnamese Heroic Mother; 869 families and relatives of martyrs; 337 wounded soldiers; 37 sick soldiers; 45 comrades infected with toxic chemicals; 24 cadres who were imprisoned and participated in the resistance war.

Over the past year, the work of "Repaying gratitude" has continued to be implemented synchronously and extensively by Hoan Kiem ward with many practical activities. The ward has promoted the dissemination of the Party and State's policies on people with meritorious services to all classes of people; focused on resolving pending cases, ensuring full and timely implementation of preferential policies. Activities of visiting, giving gifts, and offering incense to commemorate heroic martyrs on holidays and Tet have been organized regularly and thoughtfully, demonstrating the deep gratitude of the local Party Committee, government and people.

Before implementing the 2-level local government model, gifts from the President , the city and Hoan Kiem district were all delivered to 100% of policy beneficiaries in a timely manner, in accordance with regulations. In addition, from the ward budget resources and the joint contributions of the political system, through the "Repaying gratitude" Fund, the ward organized health check-ups and presented gifts worth 250,000 VND to 716 policy beneficiaries. Although the gifts were small, they had profound spiritual meaning, demonstrating the sentiments, morality and responsibility of the Party Committee, government and people of Hoan Kiem ward towards those who have contributed to the country.

At the event, the leaders of Hoan Kiem ward presented 55 gifts, each worth VND3,350,000 to war invalids and martyrs’ families in difficult circumstances; and also organized free medical examinations and medicine distribution for 700 meritorious people and martyrs’ relatives in the area.
