Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended the 78th anniversary celebration of Vietnam's National Day; met with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Mozambique; and received the Chairman of CTA.

On the evening of September 12th (local time), Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the Vietnamese delegation attended the ceremony commemorating the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, solemnly organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique in Maputo, Mozambique.

Attending the celebration on behalf of Mozambique were Minister of Defence Cristovao Artur Chume and Minister of Fisheries Lidia Cardoso.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique Pham Hoang Kim happily informed the Mozambican delegates and diplomatic corps of other countries about Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic recovery and development after the Covid-19 pandemic; emphasizing that the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Mozambique have made encouraging progress in recent years.

Expressing appreciation for the precious traditional friendship between the two Parties, the two States, and the peoples of the two countries, the Minister of Defence of Mozambique affirmed that Mozambique will continue to work with Vietnam to promote cooperation in areas of strength to match the enormous potential of both sides.

Earlier, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan had a touching and warm meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique and the Vietnamese community in Mozambique.

Ambassador Pham Hoang Kim reported to the Vice President on the situation of the Vietnamese community living, working, and studying in Mozambique, as well as the work of the Embassy. The Vietnamese community in Mozambique currently numbers approximately 200 people, living and working stably in the country in fields such as business, telecommunications, education , healthcare, and as students.

The Association of Vietnamese People in Mozambique was established in 2009. The Chairman of the Association, Mr. Ngo Kim Trong, on behalf of the Vietnamese community in Mozambique, expressed his joy at seeing the friendly relations between Vietnam and Mozambique developing well, and was moved by the attention and visit from the Vice President. He shared about the lives of the Vietnamese people in Mozambique and expressed his unwavering devotion to his homeland.

The Vice President informed the Vietnamese community in Mozambique about the political, economic, and social situation in Vietnam, and the recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic; he also reported on the results of his official visit to Mozambique through talks with the Prime Minister of Mozambique, meetings with the President and Speaker of the National Assembly of Mozambique, and meetings with the Secretary-General of the ruling Frelimo Party and representatives of Mozambican businesses.

The Vice President emphasized that the Party and State always pay attention to the Vietnamese community abroad, including our compatriots in Mozambique; he highly appreciated the community in Mozambique, which, despite its small number, is always united, close-knit, and supportive of each other in stabilizing their lives and integrating well into the local society, while actively contributing to the development of the country and playing a bridging role in strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Mozambique.

On the same day, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with the President of the Mozambique Confederation of Economic Organizations (CTA), Agostinho Vuma, and a number of leading Mozambican businesses.

During the meeting, the Vice President highly appreciated Mozambique's position and role as an important transit hub for goods in Southern Africa. The two countries need to continue promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation in the coming time to match their potential and a market of over 130 million people. The Vice President suggested that, given their important role in connecting and supporting businesses from both sides to promote cooperation, the CTA and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry should strengthen cooperation, promote exchanges of ministerial-level delegations on trade and investment, and encourage businesses from both sides to connect and participate in trade fairs and exhibitions.

The Chairman of CTA affirmed that he highly values ​​the cooperative relationship with Vietnam, thanked the Vietnamese government and the Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique for their support over the past period, and committed to strengthening connections, introductions, and information exchange to create more opportunities for cooperation in potential areas.
