Quoc Hoc Hue students extend record of reaching final round of Road to Olympia

Having been a part of the televised intellectual competition for over a quarter of a century, Hue National High School is currently the leading school in Vietnam in terms of the number of times its students have conquered the "Olympia peak".

Previous finalists include: Nguyen Thai Bao (year 5), Nguyen Manh Tan (year 8), Ho Ngoc Han (year 9), Thai Ngoc Huy (year 11), Ho Dac Thanh Chuong (year 16), Nguyen Minh Triet (year 23), and Vo Quang Phu Duc (year 24).

Among them, three students, Ho Ngoc Han, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong, and Vo Quang Phu Duc, excelled and brought home the championship laurels for the school. This is proof that affirms the position and enduring academic tradition of the school, which has a history of over 125 years.

In 2025, that tradition was continued by Le Quang Duy Khoa, a student who achieved an impressive victory in the first quarter. His spectacular comeback made Duy Khoa the eighth student from Quoc Hoc Hue High School to bring the final televised competition back to Hue; simultaneously marking a record of three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025) that Quoc Hoc Hue High School has a representative competing in the final competition.

Not only famous for its rich history and unique, ancient French architecture along the Perfume River, Hue National High School is also known as a cradle for nurturing many national talents, having trained President Ho Chi Minh , General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Secretary Tran Phu, and many other prominent figures.

Hue National High School is currently a special national historical site.

In 1990, Hue National High School was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Monument; in 2020, it was further classified as a Special National Monument.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Tho, Principal of Hue National High School, the Olympia competition's achievements are the result of a long-term strategy and a well-structured organizational model.

This school was once the training ground for President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Secretary Tran Phu, and many other prominent figures.

“The school, in collaboration with alumni, established the 'Igniting Talent' group, now known as the 'Red Laurel' group . This group organizes Olympia-themed competitions right at the school, complete with qualifying rounds, semi-finals, and finals to select the best contestants to represent the school in the 'Road to Olympia' program organized by VTV3,” Mr. Tho said.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Tho, Principal of Hue National High School, spoke with a reporter from *Tien Phong newspaper.*

After being selected, the contestants continue to receive training according to the Red Laurel content team's plan, with support from subject teachers and alumni. "We regularly organize simulated practice matches, helping students hone their tactical skills, situational awareness, buzzer pressing, keyboard typing, etc. The school and Red Laurel always work together to ensure the students are well-prepared both in terms of knowledge and mindset when entering the big competition," Mr. Tho emphasized.

This morning, October 26th, the final round of the 2025 Road to Olympia competition will take place at the Song Huong Theater (Thuan Hoa Ward, Hue City) - which has a capacity of approximately 1,000 spectators.

At the final round, Le Quang Duy Khoa will join the three best contestants to conquer the 25th season of Olympia. This is the alternative venue after the planned outdoor event at the Nghênh Lương Đình - Phu Văn Lâu historical site (north bank of the Perfume River) had to be adjusted due to unfavorable weather conditions.
