An extracurricular activity at Nguyen Van Troi Primary and Secondary School (Que Phuoc commune), with over 400 students participating, recently took place in a lively atmosphere. HIVOOC Co., Ltd. (Son Tra ward, Da Nang city) conducted a campaign to raise awareness about wildlife protection and elephant habitat preservation for students in the buffer zone of the conservation area. Under the guidance of HIVOOC Co., Ltd., the students embarked on a journey of discovery through various activities: warm-up exercises, an exhibition of paintings about wild animals, a Bingo challenge – exploring the home of an elephant, a game of "Chinese Whispers," and conversations with forest rangers.
In particular, students listened to the story "The Journey of the Little Elephant of Nong Son".
Through a modern camera trap system, the dedicated forest rangers of the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area discovered another baby elephant, only a few months old, always following its mother around.
Currently, the elephant family has at least nine members, living in a matriarchal system, meaning the head of the family is an older, most experienced female elephant. The remaining members are her children and grandchildren. The image shows the mother elephant and her aunt always staying close to protect the baby elephant. Male elephants, upon reaching adulthood, usually separate to live alone or form small groups.

According to Mr. Phan Van Trung, Principal of Nguyen Van Troi Primary and Secondary School, the extracurricular activity not only taught theory but also helped students understand the importance of working together to preserve the abundant natural resources in their living environment.
For example, the Forest Protection and Development Fund regularly organizes extracurricular environmental education activities for students at Nguyen Van Troi Ethnic Boarding Junior High School (Tay Giang commune). This helps educate the students to raise their awareness of preserving and conserving the pristine forests and ecosystems in the local area.
In addition, teachers encourage students to develop green living habits such as saving water, saving energy, minimizing plastic waste, choosing organic food, and prioritizing environmentally friendly products.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trieu, Principal of Nguyen Van Troi Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, the Co Tu community lives along the majestic Truong Son mountain range. Since ancient times, the forest has been closely connected to them, so the village elders have always taught the younger generation to respect and be grateful to the forest spirits, not to harm old-growth and rare forests, and to consider the forest as their beloved family member.
Furthermore, at the lower secondary level, the integrated interdisciplinary Natural Science curriculum in grade 8 includes lessons on topics such as "Biological Communities," "Environmental Protection," "Natural Balance," "Biosphere," and "Ecosystems." Through these lessons, students are equipped with methods to maintain natural balance, protect and restore wildlife habitats, use natural resources rationally, adapt to climate change, and protect biodiversity.
