Annual talks between Son La-Luongphabang border protection forces

On December 4, at the headquarters of Luongphabang Provincial Police, Lao People's Democratic Republic, the annual meeting took place between Luongphabang Provincial Police and the Border Guard Command of Son La Province.

The Luong Pha Bang Provincial Police delegation was led by Colonel Sombun Thanavan, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Colonel Ban Van Chanh, Deputy Commander of the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command.

At the meeting, the two sides jointly assessed the general situation on both sides of the border, specifically: In recent times, the political security, order and social safety situation in the northwestern provinces of Vietnam and the northern provinces of Laos has been basically stable, but there are also many potential complex and unpredictable factors that may occur.

The sabotage activities of reactionary, hostile, and discontented elements at home and abroad always seek every way to sabotage the two Parties and the two states of Vietnam and Laos. They incite, entice, and form factions to establish a "Mong state" in order to divide the solidarity between the two peoples...

Criminal activities, especially crimes of buying, selling, and illegally transporting drugs, weapons, explosives, illegal migration, and illegal entry and exit still occur and have a direct impact on security and politics in the border area between the two provinces of Son La and Luong Pha Bang.

In the spirit of special solidarity, friendship, understanding and mutual respect, the two sides continued to frankly exchange information and situations in areas such as border gate management, strengthening coordination in the fight against all types of crime and jointly evaluating the results and agreeing on a plan to fight in the coming time.

At the end of the talks, the two sides signed the contents and agreed on 6 basic contents on the direction and coordination work between the two forces in the coming time.

The two sides also agreed to maintain good relations of special friendship, regularly exchange information on border management and protection, ensure security and order, and combat crimes in border areas and border gates; and proactively share information and situations related to political security and social order and safety.

Continue to strengthen information exchange, unify combat plans, effectively prevent plots and tricks of hostile and reactionary forces; promptly coordinate together to handle situations and avoid being caught off guard.

After the talks, the working delegation of the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command visited, paid courtesy visits and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Luong Pha Bang Provincial Military Command; continuing to consolidate and deepen the special cooperative relationship between the border protection forces.
