Việt NamViệt Nam03/11/2023

On November 2nd, the Government Office, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security and the National Traffic Safety Committee, organized a thematic conference on ensuring traffic safety for students. The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, connecting to provincial, district, and commune-level locations nationwide. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang chaired the conference. Attending the conference at the provincial level were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Nguyen Long Bien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Huynh Tan Hanh, Director of the Provincial Police Department.

At the conference, delegates heard a report from the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on the situation and results of ensuring traffic safety for students from the beginning of 2023 to the present, as well as the direction and tasks for strengthening traffic safety for students in the coming period. Accordingly, the work of ensuring traffic safety has received attention from the Party and the State, with the issuance of many guiding documents to ministries, departments, localities, and socio-political organizations to promote propaganda and implement many solutions, contributing to positive changes in traffic safety in general and traffic safety for students in particular. However, the number of traffic accidents involving students remains high. From December 15, 2022 to October 14, 2023, the whole country experienced 881 traffic accidents involving students, resulting in 490 deaths and 827 injuries. Compared to the same period in 2022, there was an increase of 8 accidents, a decrease of 33 deaths, and a decrease of 34 injuries. Traffic accidents leave severe consequences for individual students, their families, and society.

Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

At the conference, leaders from ministries, departments, and localities exchanged and shared information to further clarify the current situation, experiences, innovative and effective approaches, and proposed many solutions to better implement traffic safety measures for students in the future.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang acknowledged and accepted the opinions and proposed solutions from the delegates. He requested that all levels, sectors, and localities not be complacent; consider including the content of ensuring traffic order and safety for students in the year-end review and evaluation of results at some agencies and units; and continue to promote propaganda to raise public and student awareness in ensuring traffic order and safety in the coming period.
