National online conference to disseminate the Secretariat's Conclusion on the organization and operation of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly

On September 12th, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly held a nationwide online conference to disseminate and implement Conclusion No. 58-KL/TW, dated June 23, 2023, of the Central Party Secretariat on the organization and operation of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.

Attending the conference at the Ninh Binh location were leaders from several departments, agencies, and organizations, as well as the Standing Committee of the Provincial Association of Elderly People.

At the conference, leaders of the Central Committee's Department of Mass Mobilization informed attendees about Conclusion No. 58 of the Party Central Committee on the organization and operation of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly. The conclusion emphasized tasks such as: strengthening the leadership and guidance of Party committees, Party organizations, and governments at all levels regarding the Association and the work related to the elderly; thoroughly understanding, raising awareness and responsibility, concretizing and strictly implementing the Party's viewpoints and policies, and the State's laws and regulations on the elderly; reviewing, amending, supplementing, and perfecting laws to suit the quality of the population, the increasing average life expectancy, and the rate of population aging; strengthening state management and investing resources to effectively implement policies and laws, especially those ensuring social security for the elderly.

To continue effectively protecting, caring for, and promoting the role of the elderly, and to build the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to meet the requirements of the new situation according to Conclusion 58 of the Party Central Committee, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly is actively innovating its content and methods of operation; promoting membership development and the organization of the association at the grassroots level; identifying, commending, and replicating good models, effective methods, and exemplary elderly people and Associations of the Elderly at all levels. At the same time, it is coordinating the review, amendment, supplementation, and improvement of laws to suit the quality of the population, strengthening state management, and investing resources to effectively implement policies and laws, especially policies ensuring social security for the elderly…

In Ninh Binh province, the Provincial Party Standing Committee has directed Party committees and authorities at all levels to strengthen leadership and guidance over the Elderly Association's representative board and the work related to the elderly; to thoroughly understand, raise awareness and responsibility, concretize and strictly implement the viewpoints and policies on the elderly. It has also strengthened state management and effectively implemented policies and laws, especially those ensuring social security for the elderly.

In implementing Conclusion No. 58, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Plan No. 142, dated August 29, 2023, which focuses on the following contents: Paying attention to directing the construction and management of funds for the care and promotion of the role of the elderly at all levels to ensure effective and lawful operation. Strengthening propaganda and mobilization efforts to raise the responsibility of families, communities, and society in protecting, caring for, and promoting the role of the elderly; Party committees, Party organizations, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, and political and social organizations at all levels regularly inspect and supervise the implementation of Conclusion No. 58 in their localities and units.

Regularly conduct reviews and summaries of the implementation of Conclusion No. 58, thereby promptly drawing lessons from leadership, guidance, and implementation; identifying, commending, and replicating good models, effective methods, and exemplary elderly people and the Association of the Elderly at all levels.
