This morning, January 20th, the Quang Tri Provincial Association of the Blind held a conference to summarize its activities in 2024 and plan for 2025.

In 2024, the Provincial Association of the Blind effectively implemented its key tasks. Through the National Employment Fund, the association recovered and re-lent 256 million VND to 11 projects under the Vietnam Association of the Blind. The loans were used effectively, improving the lives of its members. Associations of the blind in districts, towns, and cities maintained centralized production facilities for items such as bamboo toothpicks, broomsticks, and incense, creating jobs for many members. Massage and acupressure centers were expanded and invested in, attracting more workers.
Regular investigations and surveys were conducted to promptly address social welfare policies and provide health insurance cards for members and the blind. The association mobilized charitable organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally to donate 8,529 gifts in cash and in kind, totaling over 3.5 billion VND, and repaired 7 houses for members in difficult circumstances. The poverty rate across the association decreased from 15.99% to 13.78%.
In 2025, the Provincial Association of the Blind will continue to promote key programs aimed at job creation and poverty reduction for its members. It will maintain centralized production facilities, improve quality and design, modernize equipment, diversify product lines, enhance product quality, research new products suitable for the blind, gradually increase the revenue of the facilities and the wages of the workers; and open up new trades, with a focus on massage and acupressure.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of the Blind awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 9 individuals for their outstanding achievements in association work in 2024. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province presented 50 gifts (500,000 VND/gift); the Association of People with Disabilities, Victims of Agent Orange, and the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Children's Rights of the province presented 67 gifts (300,000 VND/gift) to blind people in difficult circumstances.
