On April 21st, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, organized a scientific seminar entitled "The Development of Literature and Arts in Dak Lak after 50 years since the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)".

After 50 years, the literary and artistic activities of Dak Lak province have achieved many encouraging results, developing both in breadth and depth. Every year, many works are introduced, including many that have won high awards at the regional, national, and international levels. These works explore diverse themes, creating richness in expression and fully reflecting all aspects of life. Professional and amateur arts activities have successfully exploited the unique cultural heritage of the ethnic groups in the region.

In addition, the collection, preservation, and promotion of the cultural and artistic heritage of ethnic groups have been given attention and implemented. The provincial cultural sector, in coordination with central agencies, has organized the collection, compilation, research, and editing of folk culture, rituals, and festivals of ethnic minorities in the area, especially the two indigenous ethnic groups, the Ede and the M'nong. The province has invested in restoring and organizing many traditional festivals and gong performances to serve tourism activities, along with building gong and drum performance troupes, especially community troupes and youth gong and drum troupes in villages and schools. Localities have regularly organized ethnic cultural festivals with many rich contents such as folk art competitions, folk songs, folk dances, traditional musical instrument performances, culinary competitions, brocade weaving, basket weaving, etc., and organized traditional rituals and festivals of ethnic groups.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated the restoration of over 140 traditional rituals and festivals associated with gongs. Theoretical and critical work in literature and art has made new strides, discovering the good and supporting the new and progressive in creative activities. International exchange and cooperation in literature and art have been strengthened. Cultural development is closely linked to tourism development, promoting the image and people of Dak Lak to domestic and international friends, contributing to the protection and promotion of national cultural identity in the process of international exchange and cooperation.
At the workshop, delegates discussed and clarified several issues, including: preserving and promoting indigenous culture, current results and challenges in Dak Lak; improving the quality of traditional cultural education for ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands for the younger generation and students; research, collection, and preservation of the cultural identity of ethnic groups in the region, tasks and solutions; and the role of literature and art of ethnic minorities in strengthening national unity and preserving traditional culture. Delegates also shared and proposed several recommendations on solutions for preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in conjunction with building distinctive tourism products; promoting traditional cultural values, and continuing to build and develop literature and art in the new era.

Speaking at the seminar, Comrade Nguyen Hoai Duong - Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Provincial Party Committee - said that the seminar aimed to honor the historical and cultural values, patriotic and revolutionary traditions, and the results of collection, research, and creation in the field of literature and art of Dak Lak province; to express the sentiment and moral principle of "drinking water, remembering the source"; and to contribute to the preservation, protection, and promotion of cultural and artistic values in the era of integration and development. Through the seminar, the organizers hope that scientists and experts will analyze, discuss, and clarify the achievements and results of Dak Lak's literature and art over the past 50 years; point out existing shortcomings, limitations, and issues in the field of literature and art; and assess the introduction, promotion, and dissemination of literary and artistic works by the province's artists to the public. Proposing directions, tasks, and solutions for the continued development of literature and art in the province in the coming period.
