(MPI) – Immediately after the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Mie Prefecture, Japan, signed by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc and Mr. ICHIMI Katsuyuki, Governor of Mie Prefecture, Japan, an Investment Seminar in Vietnam took place to concretize the contents of this Memorandum of Understanding.

The workshop was co-chaired by Mr. ITO TOSHIYASU, Chairman of the Mie Prefecture Federation of Commerce and Technology, Chairman of HYAKUGO Bank and Ms. Dao Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Department, Ministry of Planning and Investment. Attending the workshop were representatives of agencies, associations of Mie Prefecture and representatives of leaders of relevant units under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Dao Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of the Foreign Investment Agency, informed about the socio -economic situation of Vietnam, the positive results achieved, especially the continued improvement of the investment and business environment, creating new economic growth momentum; business dialogue activities continued to be effective in the spirit of the Government always accompanying businesses.
Ms. Dao Thanh Huong said that Vietnam always respects and appreciates the investment activities of Japanese investors, contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam as well as participating in the global value chain. Japanese enterprises always trust and cooperate more and more, as shown by the investment figures of Japan in Vietnam and currently Japan is the third largest investor out of 147 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
For Mie province, by the end of 2024, enterprises in this province had implemented 41 projects with a total registered capital of about 580 million USD, of which the projects mainly focused on the processing and manufacturing industry and are currently concentrated mainly in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. However, the results of attracting FDI from enterprises in Mie province are still very modest compared to the potential and advantages of each side; especially in the context that the two countries have upgraded their relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World ". Therefore, the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and Mie province, Japan is a new beginning in the relationship of cooperation, trade and investment between Vietnam - Japan in general and with Mie province in particular.
The Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment, is committed to always listening, accompanying and creating favorable conditions for foreign investors in general and Japanese investors in particular, including investors from Mie province, to invest and do business effectively in Vietnam, Ms. Dao Thu Huong affirmed.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. ITO TOSHIYASU, Chairman of the Mie Prefecture Federation of Commerce and Technology, as well as members of the delegation, thanked the Ministry of Planning and Investment for their welcome and the information shared. Thereby, helping businesses in the province to better understand the investment and business environment in Vietnam.
At the same time, he expressed his wish that through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and Mie province, in particular, further promoting cooperation on industrialization, attracting investment in industries and fields with high added value and advanced technology; creating an initial step to make an important contribution to promoting the increasingly deeper development relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and with Mie province in particular.
At the workshop, delegates heard information shared about the investment situation of Japan in Vietnam; orientations for attracting investment in Vietnam in the coming time; potential advantages of Mie province. Opinions showed that the areas of strength of Mie province are also priority areas in attracting investment in Vietnam in the coming period.
Opinions also expressed confidence that, with the high determination and efforts of both sides, economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries will develop strongly to new heights, in which investment cooperation with Mie province is an important factor contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Japan cooperative relationship in the coming period./.
