At 8:30 PM today, April 14th (Vietnam time), Amanda Nguyen, Katy Perry, and four other women will make history by participating in the first all-female astronaut space flight. The flight will take place aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard spacecraft at the West Texas launch site (USA).
The flight had six female members.

According to Blue Origin, the NS-31 mission includes six prominent women from diverse fields: journalist Lauren Sánchez – fiancée of billionaire Jeff Bezos (founder of Blue Origin), Katy Perry – international pop star, Gayle King – CBS Mornings host, Amanda Nguyen – scientist and human rights activist, Aisha Bowe – aerospace engineer who previously worked at NASA, and Kerianne Flynn – film producer.
The NS-31 mission had a short flight duration of only about 11 minutes, with the goal of carrying the crew across the Kármán Line—the international space boundary—at an altitude of 100 km.
This is a step forward not only in science but also reaffirms the increasingly prominent role of women in the aerospace industry, a field previously dominated by men.
This is a special milestone not only because of the gender factor, but also because of the spirit of combining space science and technology with modern fashion , as expressed through the custom-designed flight suit by the Monse brand.
Designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, the two founders of the fashion brand Monse, personally created the new flight suit using flame-retardant, stretchy neoprene fabric, while eliminating bulky details such as shoulder pads and black accents previously seen on Blue Origin's traditional flight suits.
Instead, the outfit features a distinctive, sleek, figure-flattering blue color and has a racing or ski suit vibe, clearly showcasing a blend of aesthetics and performance.
"We wanted something simple, comfortable, well-fitting – but also glamorous," designer Fernando Garcia shared about the outfit.
According to Lauren Sánchez, the mission organizer, the outfit is not simply clothing, but also a symbol of elegance, strength, and individuality. Therefore, it perfectly aligns with the mission's purpose of celebrating women.

In 1980, pilot Pham Tuan, along with Soviet cosmonaut Viktor Vasilyevich Gorbatko, made a space flight aboard the Soyuz 37 spacecraft. He became the first Vietnamese, and also the first Asian, to undertake a space mission.
Now, nearly half a century later, Amanda Nguyen will be the first Vietnamese-American woman to make history on a similar flight. In a video released by the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam on March 28, Amanda Nguyen says in Vietnamese: "I am Vietnamese."
"I flew into space so that young Vietnamese women could see themselves among the stars. It's important to me that I can bring my community along. I may be the first, but I won't be the last," Amanda Nguyen said in a video released by the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam.
Through her groundbreaking achievements, Amanda not only shattered stereotypes but also inspired a new generation. She proved that no obstacle is insurmountable in the pursuit of one's dreams.
Reportedly, Amanda Nguyen spent three years at the International Academy of Aeronautics and Space Sciences researching and preparing for her space trip.
"I had to go through rigorous training to become an astronaut in the future. From learning how to operate in a microgravity environment to emergency training involving escaping from the space shuttle underwater. Astronaut training is an incredibly challenging experience, but it has given me invaluable knowledge and exciting experiences," Amanda shared.
"Let's have hope," Amanda Nguyen urged young people.
"Even when doors close, even when there are times you need to choose different paths, I hope that you will never lose your dreams and that you will follow the North Star of your life," she said.
The North Star is a constellation that plays a crucial role in orientation and navigation on Earth.
