Today (September 27th), information from the Department of Planning and Investment of Ca Mau province indicates that the locality will allocate over 860 billion VND for land clearance and implementation of the investment project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport. The project is expected to be implemented within two years (2024 and 2025) using local budget funds.

The investment project involves compensation and land clearance covering an area of over 100 hectares, located in two wards (Ward 6 and Tan Thanh Ward, Ca Mau City). After review, authorities identified 5 organizations and over 700 households and individuals affected.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment, from now until the end of 2024, the province will carry out procedures for surveying and counting land and assets attached to the land; develop plans for compensation, resettlement support, and hand over a portion of the land.
The local authorities are also striving to hand over the remaining construction site to the Vietnam Airports Corporation by early 2025.
The Provincial People's Committee directs relevant agencies to fully implement policies on compensation, support, resettlement, and relocation of affected households from the project area to stable and safe living and production locations.
Currently, Ca Mau Airport has one runway measuring 1,500m x 30m, only capable of handling short-haul flights using ATR72 aircraft or equivalent. The airport operates only one route: Ca Mau – Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, with a frequency of 4 flights per week.
According to the approved master plan, this airport will be a domestic airport, serving both civilian and military purposes.
Specifically, from 2021-2030, Ca Mau Airport will be classified as a 4C airport and a Level II military airport. It will handle approximately 1 million passengers and 1,000 tons of cargo annually; the aircraft operated will be Code C aircraft such as the A320/A321 and equivalent.
By 2050, the airport's capacity has been increased to approximately 3 million passengers per year and 3,000 tons of cargo per year.
