The Department of Local Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in coordination with the People's Committee of Kien Giang province, organized the 14th Conference on Industrial Promotion for Southern provinces and cities - 2024 at the People's Committee of Phu Quoc city on the afternoon of October 10th.

According to the Department of Local Industry and Trade, in the first nine months of 2024, the total approved budget for industrial promotion in 20 provinces and cities in the Southern region was over 91.3 billion VND, a decrease of approximately 8% compared to the 2023 plan; supporting rural industrial establishments to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions, promote and advertise, connect with consumers, and contribute to the development of local industry and handicrafts.

However, the planning, evaluation at the grassroots level, and quality of local projects have not been sufficiently robust in developing large-scale pilot projects; the budget allocation process remains slow, affecting the support policies for rural industrial enterprises.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Duong province, believes that the industrial promotion policy in recent years has been a boost helping rural industrial establishments develop and local products enter the market.

The People's Committee of Binh Duong province has recently issued policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises in vocational training, maintaining and preserving traditional craft villages; connecting them with raw materials, promoting and advertising, and improving machinery and equipment to enhance production and the value of local products.

"We hope that the Ministry of Industry and Trade's industrial promotion policy will consider providing more support to small and medium-sized enterprises and specialized craft villages, giving them more opportunities to relocate machinery and production equipment and maintain stable development," Ms. Ha suggested.

Mr. Ngo Quang Trung, Director of the Department of Local Industry and Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), suggested that localities and relevant units focus on completing the industrial promotion tasks for 2024 and preparing the industrial promotion plan for 2025.

Local authorities need to study and promote industrial promotion with a focus on key areas and along industry chains, linked to digital transformation, to help rural industrial establishments develop stably and sustainably.
