On the afternoon of October 26, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City announced that it had just issued a regulation order for two hydroelectric reservoirs, Huong Dien (upstream of Bo River) and Binh Dien (upstream of Huong River) due to widespread heavy rain.
Accordingly, from the morning of October 26, there will be heavy to very heavy rain in Hue city, mainly concentrated in mountainous areas.
According to the Vrain rainfall measuring application, from the evening of October 25 to the morning of October 26, the highest rainfall in the country was recorded at the Bach Ma mountain peak (Phu Loc commune) with more than 430mm, and in Bach Ma National Park it was 206mm...
Heavy rain also caused many sections of National Highway 49 through Hue City to be flooded.
According to forecasts, from now until October 28 in Hue there will be heavy to very heavy rain. Total rainfall is generally 200-400mm, in some places over 600mm.
To ensure the safety of the dam as well as to carry out the task of flood control for the downstream, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City has requested Binh Dien Hydropower Reservoir to discharge water at a flow rate of 950-1,800m 3 /s. Similarly, Huong Dien Hydropower Reservoir is also requested to discharge water at a flow rate of 1,050-1,800m 3 /s.
With such discharge, it is forecasted that floods will occur on the Huong and Bo rivers, causing inundation of low-lying areas downstream of the two rivers.
