The first district in Nam Dinh province to receive the Advanced New Rural Area Certificate in 2023.

In 2017, Giao Thuy district became the 5th district in Nam Dinh province and the 50th district nationwide to be recognized as achieving the new rural standard. Immediately after being recognized as a district meeting the new rural standard, Giao Thuy district quickly began building advanced and model new rural areas.

Based on closely following the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress and the thematic Resolution of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee on the task of building advanced and model new rural areas, the Giao Thuy District Party Committee also issued a thematic Resolution to focus on leading and directing the task of building advanced and model new rural areas, setting out specific goals, tasks, and solutions for implementation.

With strong determination and great effort, Giao Thuy district has achieved advanced new rural area standards in 18 communes, model new rural area standards in 14 communes, and 2 towns recognized as civilized urban areas.

On August 2, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed Decision No. 761/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister recognizing Giao Thuy district as having achieved advanced new rural standards in 2023.

According to the People's Committee of Giao Thuy district, by the end of 2023, the average per capita income in the district reached 84.46 million VND/person/year, more than four times higher than in 2010; the poverty rate was 1.07%; and the near-poverty rate was 3.01%. The rate of people participating in health insurance reached 95.80%.

By July 2024, the percentage of households using clean water from centralized water supply systems reached over 94%. The percentage of household solid waste collected and treated according to regulations increased by 6% compared to 2017.

The street lighting system has been upgraded with cast iron poles, separate tubular poles, LED lights, and underground wiring along the roads; 180 out of 182 hamlets have been recognized as cultural hamlets, and the percentage of families achieving the title of cultural family is 94%...

It is known that Giao Thuy district is the leading locality in Nam Dinh province in the movement to build advanced and model new rural areas; it is the first district in Nam Dinh province and one of the first 10 districts nationwide to be recognized by the Prime Minister as a district meeting the standards of advanced new rural areas in 2023.
