According to the leaders of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, in recent years, as a member organization of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, the Union has become a core force in implementing patriotic emulation movements and the "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas" campaign. Activities supporting women's economic development, environmental protection, and improving their quality of life have spread widely, contributing to ensuring social security in the province.

A mark of support for women to escape poverty.

From 2021 to the present, sustainable poverty reduction efforts have been widely implemented by the Women's Union at all levels. Each local branch of the Union has registered to support at least two poor and near-poor women's households to escape poverty. The results have far exceeded expectations: 5,234 households have escaped poverty according to multidimensional criteria, achieving 174% of the target set by the Central Resolution.

Simultaneously, vocational training and job placement efforts have yielded significant results. Women's Union branches at all levels coordinated the opening of 365 vocational training classes for over 10,000 students; provided career counseling to 28,831 female workers; and facilitated job placements for 115,867 workers, including 88,344 women with stable employment and 195 women who went to work abroad in Japan and South Korea.

Funding for economic development continues to expand. The Association has disbursed 9.8 billion VND from projects under its management to 1,526 women for livelihood loans. In addition, entrusted funds from banks and credit funds have reached a large scale, with 230.5 billion VND provided to 8,913 women for livestock development and small-scale trading, gradually stabilizing their lives.

Savings models have also yielded practical results. The entire province maintains 1,378 savings groups with 14,461 members. Nearly 38 billion VND has been circulated to support 9,087 poor, single, and disadvantaged women, a crucial resource helping them proactively increase their income.

In addition to supporting livelihoods, the Women's Union at all levels has also mobilized benefactors and philanthropists to contribute to many charitable programs: "Accompanying Women in Border Areas," "Millions of Gifts Sharing Love," "Godmother Program," etc. The total resources mobilized amounted to nearly 50 billion VND, helping over 68,000 poor women and orphans; building and repairing 563 "Houses of Love" and "Houses in Border Areas."

Working together to build a new rural area.

Closely following the "National Solidarity Movement for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas," the Provincial Women's Union has concretized the content into its activities, requiring each local branch to register to support at least two households that meet the criteria of "5 no's and 3 clean's." Propaganda work has been significantly reformed, from branch meetings to the application of digital transformation through fanpages, Zalo, Facebook, etc., helping members easily access and spread the message to the community.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Solidarity House for Ms. Le Thi Thuy Lieu in Hoa Dien commune (An Giang province) demonstrates the Women's Union's commitment to supporting disadvantaged families.

The effects are evident: women and people in the community have raised their awareness and changed their behavior through actively planting flowers and trees in or in front of their homes; participating in activities initiated by the locality such as clearing bushes, maintaining cleanliness of village roads and alleys, sorting household waste, using reusable shopping bags, and saving electricity and water. This is the foundation for building a new rural area starting from each family.

Women's associations at all levels have supported 2,815 households in building hygienic toilets and clean water facilities, contributing at least 10% to the National Strategy's target on rural clean water. The province currently has 13 "3 Clean" environmental models, with 669 groups and over 14,000 members. Notable models such as "Women going to the market with reusable shopping baskets" and "Household waste sorting" have donated a total of 5,496 reusable shopping baskets, 2,958 trash cans, 525 cloth bags, and over 1.2 tons of environmentally friendly plastic bags.

Simultaneously, 293 climate change adaptation livelihood groups with 4,215 members have been effectively maintained, contributing to enhancing women's resilience to economic and environmental changes.

In the "Effective Mass Mobilization" movement for the period 2021-2025, 100% of the Association's branches registered to implement 1,500 projects and tasks. The results showed that 3,000 tasks were completed, achieving 200% of the target. Regarding support for households meeting the criteria of "5 no's and 3 clean's" and "5 yes's and 3 clean's," the Association at all levels assisted 9,000 out of 7,500 households, achieving and exceeding 120% of the target set by the Central Committee.

It can be affirmed that the close coordination between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province and the An Giang Provincial Women's Union has created a great ripple effect for emulation movements, especially in supporting women to escape poverty sustainably, build happy families, protect the environment, and care for social welfare. The results achieved have not only improved the lives of members but also directly contributed to fulfilling the criteria for new rural areas and advanced new rural areas in the province.
