On the afternoon of October 9th, Nhan Dan newspaper held a press conference to announce a music program titled Kenny G Live in Vietnam. This is an international music project working for the community in Vietnam, initiated by Nhan Dan newspaper and IB Group Vietnam.
Good Morning Vietnam is expected to be held annually not only to spread world- class music to Vietnam but also to carry profound humanitarian value, as all proceeds from ticket sales will be used for charitable purposes sponsored by the Nhan Dan newspaper.
Kenny G will perform live all of his most famous songs, including: "Going Home", "Havana", "Romeo & Juliet", "My Heart Will Go On"...
According to the organizers, the show will last over two hours, following the exact format of Kenny G's performances on major stages around the world. Kenny G and his band will perform live all of his most famous songs from over the years, including: Going Home, Havana, Romeo & Juliet, and My Heart Will Go On.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , and Head of the program's steering committee, stated that inviting renowned international artists to perform in Vietnam is not easy due to their packed schedules. Fortunately, Kenny G was able to arrange his schedule to come to Hanoi this time.
Journalist Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, shared his thoughts on the program.
Also at the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong, Chairman of IB Group Vietnam, said that Kenny G had quite high demands regarding equipment for the concert:
"A live concert requires a specific set of accompanying equipment (speakers, mixing console, etc.), and if the wrong type is used, it will produce a different sound quality. Kenny could use audio equipment supplied by Vietnam, but he requires a mixing console manufactured 10 years ago to achieve the sound quality he desires."
We had to go to Japan and Singapore to rent two mixing consoles. The organizers signed a contract to bring those two consoles to Vietnam two months ago to ensure that Kenny G's performance quality in Vietnam is no different from his performances on major stages around the world."
Kenny G is an American saxophone artist. In 1994, Kenny G won a Grammy Award for his work "Forever in Love" and is the only artist in the world to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records for playing a single note on the saxophone for the longest time, 45 minutes and 47 seconds. In 1997, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame bearing his name.
