On the morning of March 18, Israel decided to resume military operations in the Gaza Strip after a two-month ceasefire, declaring that this was not a "one-day attack" and that the campaign would continue in the coming days.

Reuters news agency quoted Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar speaking at a meeting with a pro-Israel lobby group in Jerusalem saying that the US was informed in advance about the Middle Eastern country's airstrikes and supported the operation.
Mr. Saar also posted on X that Israel "has no choice" but to resume military operations in Gaza if Hamas does not release the hostages.
Meanwhile, Israel's defense minister warned of more intense military attacks on Gaza if Hamas does not release all hostages.
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country's army will return to combat with full force and "this is just the beginning."
He made it clear that the current military campaign will continue until Israel achieves all of its goals, which are “to free the hostages, eliminate Hamas and ensure that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel.”
Netanyahu said military pressure was necessary to secure the release of more hostages, saying the overnight raid came after Hamas rejected a proposal by Israel and the United States to extend the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire that ended on March 1.
According to figures released by the Israeli military, its forces carried out about 80 airstrikes across the Gaza Strip in just 10 minutes in the early morning of March 18. This new wave of attacks killed more than 400 Palestinians and drew criticism from the international community.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the Israeli army had ordered Palestinians to evacuate the Beit Hanoun and Khan Younis areas, marking more than two months since similar evacuation orders were issued there.
According to OCHA, this evacuation order covers an area of about 23km², equivalent to more than 6% of the Gaza Strip's area, including more than 10 Palestinian evacuation sites, as well as 3 medical facilities and 1 field hospital.
In response, the Palestinian Authority has called on the Arab League Council (LAS) to hold an extraordinary session at the permanent representative level to discuss initiatives by Arab countries and the international community to stop Israel's actions.
Meanwhile, the British government has called on Israel and Hamas to implement the Gaza ceasefire deal “comprehensively”, urging all sides to “urgently return to dialogue” to end the fighting.
On Hamas' side, the movement blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for continuing the military campaign in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that this decision has "abrogated the ceasefire agreement and is pushing the hostages in Gaza to an uncertain fate".
In addition, Hamas also called on the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to help people in Gaza escape the siege.
