Israel speaks of 'historic victory' after conflict with Iran

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel "has achieved a historic victory" after it and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement.

According to the Times Of Israel on June 24, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel "achieved a historic victory" after a US-brokered ceasefire took effect, ending the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said the country had eliminated "two existential threats — the threat of destruction through nuclear weapons and the threat of destruction through the 20,000 ballistic missiles that Iran is working on."

"Israel has destroyed Iran's ballistic missile program and dealt the most serious blow in its history. We have pushed Iran's nuclear program into the abyss. If anyone in Iran tries to revive that program, we will act with the same determination, the same strength to stop any such attempt," Prime Minister Netanyahu stressed.

The Israeli prime minister also thanked US President Donald Trump for "his role in protecting Israel and eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat".

Meanwhile, in a message to the nation published by the official news agency IRNA, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced an end to the conflict with Israel.

“Today, after the heroic resistance of our great people – a people with the will to make history – we are witnessing the establishment of a ceasefire and the end of the 12-day war, which was imposed by Israel.”
