Israel continues to expand its airstrikes campaign in Lebanon, the situation in the Middle East remains "tense as a bowstring"

According to AFP on October 13, Israel has expanded its airstrikes campaign on targets in Lebanon.

Israeli warplanes on October 12 attacked a market in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatiyeh and a church near the Lebanon-Israel border.

There were also airstrikes on a Shi'ite Muslim village in the mountains and another in northern Lebanon. The Lebanese Health Ministry said the airstrikes killed at least 15 people.

Meanwhile, Israel said its 36th Division continued to “carry out targeted and limited operations” in southern Lebanon targeting the Hezbollah movement.

Israeli fighter jets attacked anti-tank missile launchers, weapons depots and other Hezbollah targets.

In a related development, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant assured his US counterpart Lloyd Austin that the Jewish State will continue to take measures to avoid harming the United Nations peacekeeping force deployed in southern Lebanon.

At least five members of the UN peacekeeping force have been injured in recent days as Israeli forces battle Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
