Pneumococcal and HPV vaccination plan in expanded immunization

The Ministry of Health has just issued Decision No. 2780/QD-BYT on the expanded immunization plan for the next 3 years (2026 - 2028). This plan specifies 13 infectious diseases with vaccines that will be vaccinated free of charge in the expanded immunization program for children and pregnant women.

These diseases include: hepatitis B, tuberculosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type B disease, measles, rubella, Japanese encephalitis B, rotavirus diarrhea, pneumococcal pneumonia/meningitis, and HPV-related cervical cancer.

According to the plan, for the two new vaccines, pneumococcal and HPV, the Ministry of Health expects the vaccine demand in the National Expanded Immunization Program in the next three years to be estimated based on the registered demand of 34 provinces and cities.

To implement the roadmap to increase the number of vaccines in the National Expanded Immunization Program, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology issued Official Dispatch No. 1580/VSDTTU-TCQG dated July 30, 2025, proposing the scope of small-scale pneumococcal vaccine implementation in 2025 in 5 provinces and expanding implementation to 10 provinces and cities in 2026.
