According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu, in recent years, many Korean corporations and enterprises have invested in Quang Nam, most of them successfully. Thereby, contributing greatly to the local economic and social development.
Currently, in addition to about 40 medium and small hydropower plants (total capacity of 1,600MW) and more than 150MW of solar power, the potential for exploiting and developing energy sources in Quang Nam is huge.
In particular, with an area of over 10,574km2 and about 40,000km2 of sunny and windy continental shelf, Quang Nam still has a lot of room for Korean enterprises to study, research, and invest in exploiting green, clean, renewable energy sources such as solar power, wind power, gas power, etc.
Over the past time, Quang Nam province and cities of Korea have built friendly and cooperative relationships, creating important foundations and premises for socio-economic development, cultural exchange, improving the material and spiritual life of the people... Up to now, Quang Nam has established friendly and cooperative relationships with 3 localities and 1 partner of Korea including Osan city, Gyeonggi province (2004); Yongin city, Gyeonggi province (2013); Gwangyang city, Jeonnam province (2017); Dongduk Women's University (2018).
In addition, the localities of the province have established friendly cooperative relations with 3 localities of Korea, including: Tam Ky city - Dalseo district, Daegu city (established in 2011); Nam Tra My district - Hamyang district, Gyeongnam province (established in 2015); Dien Ngoc ward, Dien Ban town - Namchon ward, Osan city (established in 2015).
In recent years, Korean tourists have always occupied the top position in the structure of international visitors to Quang Nam. In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, there were more than 161,000 Korean tourists traveling to Quang Nam.
At the meeting, a number of Korean enterprises expressed their interest in issues such as nuclear power, carbon emissions, clean energy development, renewable energy, etc. Professor Lee Sang Keun - Head of the Jeollanam-do province investor delegation said that the delegation to Quang Nam this time mainly consisted of enterprises operating in the fields of energy (electricity), technology, communications, etc., so they are very interested in related issues.
Mr. Lee Sang Keun assessed that Quang Nam has a lot of potential and room to develop clean energy and renewable energy. The business trip is an opportunity for Korean enterprises to learn about the investment environment, strengths, culture as well as preferential policies and investment attraction in Quang Nam province.
As of May 2024, the province has 58 Korean FDI projects with a total investment capital of more than 867 million USD. In particular, the province's Economic Zone and Industrial Parks have 31 Korean investment projects with a total investment capital of more than 831 million USD.
Export value in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated at 621 million USD, import value in the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated at 970 million USD. Most projects focus on areas such as processing - manufacturing industry and services.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu acknowledged that Korean investment projects in the province have been operating quite effectively, contributing positively to the overall development of the locality. At the same time, he affirmed that Quang Nam always creates favorable conditions and promptly resolves recommendations from FDI enterprises in general and Korean enterprises in particular during the investment and production process in the province.
