On the morning of June 16th, the Department of Industry and Trade of Thua Thien Hue province, in coordination with the Trade Promotion Agency ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) and the Departments of Industry and Trade of the North Central provinces, organized a conference to connect suppliers with export businesses and promote trade in the North Central region in 2023.

The North Central region comprises six provinces: Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Binh , Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa. It is considered a strategically important economic region of Vietnam in general and of the Central region in particular; it serves as an important bridge connecting the key economic regions of the Central and Northern regions; and it holds a strategically important position in terms of politics, culture, and society.
In the first six months of 2023, local authorities in the North Central provinces coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to effectively implement national-level trade promotion projects for the region. This included preparing for the implementation of projects such as: organizing visits for foreign business delegations to Vietnam for purchasing transactions with localities in the North Central region; and strengthening trade connections with other provinces and cities nationwide, as well as with export markets.
The implementation of national-level trade promotion projects and programs has contributed to boosting economic and trade exchanges between provinces in the region and the rest of the country and abroad. Simultaneously, it has created opportunities for organizations and businesses to promote and introduce their brands and products, especially typical rural industrial products, OCOP products, and specialties of the North Central region; bringing goods closer to consumers; understanding consumer preferences; seeking opportunities and markets; and showcasing the achievements and economic development potential of the North Central region, contributing to the comprehensive and sustainable socio-economic development of the provinces in the North Central region.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Son – Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Thua Thien Hue province – said that the conference was a very meaningful and practical event, creating conditions for businesses, traders, cooperatives of the North Central provinces and export businesses and distributors nationwide to meet, exchange experiences, learn about market information, connect supply and demand of goods; creating opportunities to expand business markets and product consumption…

Speaking at the conference, Hoang Minh Chien, Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that this is an important trade promotion conference for the North Central region, part of the 2023 National Trade Promotion Program directed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, and implemented in coordination with localities in the North Central region.
To contribute to leveraging the advantages of the Central and North Central economic regions, and to support businesses in the North Central region in particular, and businesses and cooperatives nationwide in general, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been, is, and will continue to work alongside localities to promote trade and support market development both domestically and internationally for local and regional products with competitive advantages such as agricultural products, medicinal herbs, processed foods, and specialty products, handicrafts, and industrial products.
“This conference will be an effective bridge and an important trade promotion channel, creating conditions for localities, businesses, and cooperatives in Thua Thien Hue province and other provinces in the North Central region to expand domestic and export markets, directly access export units and distributors both domestically and internationally; create opportunities for trade exchange; and enhance the brand value of products and services of businesses and cooperatives in the Central region in particular and the whole country in general,” emphasized Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Department Hoang Minh Chien.
At the conference, eight distributors and export businesses signed cooperation agreements to sell products from 40 suppliers in the North Central region.
