On the morning of April 26th, at the Le Van Huu Temple (Thieu Trung commune), the People's Committee of Thieu Hoa district inaugurated the 2024 Le Van Huu Temple Festival to commemorate the 702nd anniversary of the death of historian Le Van Huu (March 23rd, 1322 - March 23rd, 2024). Attending the festival were: Mr. Do Trong Hung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Lai The Nguyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Trinh Tuan Sinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and organizations; the Le Family Association of Vietnam; and a large number of local people and tourists.

Following the traditional ceremonies, Comrade Hoang Trong Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Thieu Hoa District, delivered a speech commemorating the 702nd anniversary of the death of historian Le Van Huu. The speech emphasized that Thieu Hoa is the birthplace of many heroes and virtuous individuals who have brought glory to their homeland and country, including Le Van Huu, who laid the foundation for Vietnamese national history.

Le Van Huu was born in 1230 in Phu Ly village (now Thieu Trung commune, Thieu Hoa district). As a child, he was known for his intelligence and academic prowess. Le Van Huu passed the Bang Nhan examination in the year Dinh Mui (1247) during the reign of King Tran Thai Tong and was given many important positions in the court such as: Inspector of Justice, Han Lam Academy scholar and concurrently National History Institute supervisor, deputy to General Tran Quang Khai, equivalent to the later position of Minister of War.

During his time as an official, he was known for his profound learning and exceptional virtue. He was appointed to the palace by order of King Tran Thai Tong to teach Prince Quang Khai. Throughout history, Teacher Le Van Huu has become an iconic figure associated with the tradition of studiousness and the pursuit of education, not only in Thanh Hoa but also in many parts of the country.
Not only was Le Van Huu a great educator, politician , military leader, and cultural figure of the 13th and 14th centuries, but he also laid the foundation for the nation's national history. With his intelligence and talent, he compiled the "Dai Viet History Chronicle," which has been passed down through generations. With his exceptional talent and virtue, Le Van Huu has inscribed his name in the "golden list" of Vietnamese cultural figures, becoming a source of pride for Thieu Hoa, a land rich in historical and cultural traditions, and Thanh Hoa province in general.
Promoting the tradition of studiousness and the great contributions of historian Le Van Huu, along with the development of the homeland and country, generations of cadres and people of Thieu Hoa have been continuing the revolutionary historical and cultural tradition, building the homeland to become increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.

Next was a theatrical performance with the theme "Le Van Huu - A Distinguished Scholar from Thanh Hoa Province," consisting of three chapters: Chapter 1: The Land of Sacred Spirits that Gave Birth to Outstanding Figures; Chapter 2: The Dai Viet Chronicle, the Beginning of Vietnam's National History; Chapter 3: Following in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors, Building a Prosperous and Strong Homeland.
