Opening of the Festival "Practicing the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship Belief" in Bac Giang province, expanded in 2025

As part of the series of activities of the Culture - Tourism Week of Bac Giang province in 2025, on the evening of February 10, at Suoi Mo Eco-tourism Area (Luc Nam district), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Luc Nam district to organize the 6th expanded "Practice of the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship Belief" Festival in Bac Giang province in 2025.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Mai Son - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Provincial Culture - Tourism Week; representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of Luc Nam district and many people from all walks of life.

In his opening speech, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Truong Quang Hai emphasized that Bac Giang is one of the localities possessing the cultural heritage of the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship Practice, which has been preserved, conserved and promoted in community life by generations of artisans.

On December 1, 2016, the practice of the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, becoming an honor and pride for the people of the whole country as well as the people of Bac Giang province.

Held every two years since 2015, the Festival "Practicing the Vietnamese Mother Goddess Worship" (formerly the Van and Chau Van Singing Festival) has become an event that attracts the attention and enthusiastic response of many people who love to practice the Mother Goddess Worship.

The festival is an opportunity for heritage practitioners from localities of Bac Giang province and participating provinces to meet, exchange and learn from each other. Thereby contributing to preserving and promoting the good values ​​of the heritage of practicing the Mother Goddess Worship of the Vietnamese people in contemporary life.

Performance of the practice of the Mother Goddess Worship of the Three Realms by medium Nguyen Thi Nam (Luc Nam district).

This year’s festival has the participation of 17 artisans and mediums, including 7 artisans from Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Lang Son provinces and 10 artisans from districts, towns and cities in Bac Giang province. Here, each artisan performs 2-3 hau dong rituals praising gods, holy mothers and heroes who have contributed to the nation.

With careful and meticulous preparation, the actors, artisans, and mediums brought to the festival unique and attractive religious practices, leaving a deep impression on the audience such as: Gia Quan Hoang Muoi, Co Be Thuong Ngan, Quan Lon Tuan Tranh, Gia Chau Luc...

Meritorious artist Vu Thanh Binh (Nam Dinh) practices the religion with the Great Mandarins of Tuan Tranh and Chau Luc.

The festival "Practicing the Vietnamese Mother Goddess worship" will take place until February 11 (January 14, At Ty year)./.
