In her opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Steering Committee for the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival, emphasized: Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic groups is both a goal and a key, long-term task identified by the Party and State of Vietnam in all periods, especially in the context of innovation, integration, globalization, and the ongoing scientific and technological revolution.

Over the past period, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proactively and actively coordinated with ministries, sectors, and localities to implement many activities and programs aimed at preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups. The organization of the Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Culture Festival in Quang Tri province is one such example.   This serves as concrete evidence in the implementation of the viewpoints, tasks, and resolutions set forth by the Party.

The Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Cultural Festival is not only a cultural event, but more importantly, it is an opportunity for cultural practitioners, artisans, performers, and amateur athletes from various ethnic groups to participate in exchanges, share experiences, and showcase the beauty of their own cultures. Through this, it spreads pride and a sense of responsibility among each citizen and community in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in the era of national integration and development.

From there, the cultural achievements built over many generations are continued, nurtured, and become increasingly profound and rich. This reflects the spirit of great unity and the aspiration for progress of the people; creating a solid foundation for the people of all ethnic groups, together with the whole country, to strive even harder in the new era – the era of Vietnam's national progress.

Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said: Quang Tri is home to the Kinh, Bru-Van Kieu, and Ta Oi (Pa Co) ethnic groups, as well as several other minority groups, accounting for approximately 14% of the province's total population. Throughout their development, the minority ethnic groups in Quang Tri have formed unique cultural identities that are both distinct and share common characteristics with the Vietnamese ethnic community.

Over the years, Quang Tri province has consistently prioritized allocating resources to support ethnic minority areas; paying attention to promoting the implementation of the National Target Program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Quang Tri province for the period 2021-2030. This includes the preservation and promotion of the valuable traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development, contributing to attracting tourists to Quang Tri.

"The festival is also an opportunity for Quang Tri province to promote and introduce the cultural and tourism products of its homeland and people to friends and tourists both domestically and internationally, linking the preservation, conservation, and promotion of cultural heritage values with sustainable tourism development," Mr. Hoang Nam emphasized.

With the theme " Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups; Equality, solidarity, respect, integration and development for a peaceful world ," the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival will feature many unique activities, with participants being artisans, performers, and athletes from ethnic groups in 16 provinces and cities: Bac Giang, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Vinh Phuc, and Quang Tri.
