Opening of the 26th Session of the National Assembly Standing Committee

In his opening remarks at the session, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that at this session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly would consider seven draft laws and three resolutions; including the amended Land Law. This is a very important draft law, after having sought opinions from specialized National Assembly deputies, and today the Standing Committee of the National Assembly is continuing to give its opinions for further discussion and submission to the National Assembly at the 6th session in October.

Next is the draft Law on Social Insurance (amended), a cornerstone of social security; followed by discussions on the draft Law on Archives (amended); the draft Law on the Organization of People's Courts (amended); the draft Law on the Capital City (amended); and the draft Law on National Defense, Security and Industrial Mobilization.

Regarding oversight work, at this session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will consider and review National Assembly resolutions related to thematic oversight, resolutions on interpellation and answers to interpellation, etc.

According to the Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office, Bui Van Cuong, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly's session was divided into three phases with 16 items to be considered and commented on.

At this session, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will also consider and provide written opinions on several issues: Opinions on the Government's report on the implementation of the Constitution, laws, and resolutions of the National Assembly; reports on the activities of provincial People's Councils; reports on the Government's reports on the results of operations and the management and use of the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund for the years 2021 and 2022; results of two years of implementing Resolution No. 68/2013/QH13 of the National Assembly on promoting the implementation of policies and laws on health insurance, towards universal health insurance; the situation of implementing social insurance policies and regulations, managing and using the Social Insurance Fund in 2022; the situation of managing and using the Health Insurance Fund in 2022…

Following the opening remarks by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, and under the chairmanship of National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly considered and commented on the 2023 work report and the 2024 audit plan of the State Audit Office.

Next, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly gave its opinions on the report on the roadmap for shortening the process and time for annual state budget settlement; on the draft plan for supervision and the outline of the report of the National Assembly Standing Committee's supervisory delegation on "The implementation of policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety from 2009 to the end of 2023"; and on the report on the National Assembly's work on citizens' petitions in August 2023.
