On the morning of October 16, at the hall of the Center for Culture - Sports and Communications of Can Gio district, the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Center held the opening ceremony of the Southern Amateur Music Art Composition Camp of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024. The composition camp took place from October 16 to 18, in Can Gio district.
Ho Chi Minh City is a convergence of many different cultural flows, containing many extremely precious traditional cultural values, a "fertile land" that nurtures many generations of artisans and artists of various folk and ethnic art forms to shine and flourish, including the art of Southern amateur music, a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Up to now, the art of Southern amateur music still exists in community life, an indispensable spiritual food for people living and working in Ho Chi Minh City.
With the hope that the cultural and artistic life of Ho Chi Minh City will have more good creations, many new works closely related to modern life and people, bringing the breath of the new era, this year's creative camp is organized to promote the spirit of creativity more strongly, enriching the source of performing works. At the same time, creating opportunities for young authors to exchange, contact, learn creative experiences from experts, researchers, artisans, artists and famous composers of this unique art form.
At this creative camp, in addition to the Advisory Board of experts, artists, and famous composers, there are also 25 members participating, including authors specializing in composing amateur music and reformed opera, including many young authors, the successor generation of Southern amateur music.
The camp's professional activities focus on authors composing new works about the Party, Uncle Ho, historical and cultural sites and relics in Ho Chi Minh City associated with the 50-year process of building and developing the City... The above topics are focused on to practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
