The Italian ODA project for the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, has a total investment of VND 171.9 billion, of which €5.6 million is preferential loan capital from the Italian Government. The building is constructed on an area of 1,882 m², comprising 7 floors with a total floor area of 11,618 m².
This is a key project aimed at enhancing the training, research, and medical examination and treatment capabilities, especially in the fields of Obstetrics and Pediatrics and high-tech specialties, of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (a hospital affiliated with the university).
Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City, delivered a speech at the ceremony.
The project also invested over 1.11 million EUR in modern equipment for the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and the University Hospital, including testing systems, operating room equipment, infection control systems, and other high-tech equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, said that in the city's development strategy, healthcare is identified as one of the top priority pillars. Improving the quality of healthcare for the people not only brings direct benefits to the people but also contributes to promoting socio-economic growth, attracting investment, and expanding international cooperation.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, the inauguration and commissioning of the project contributes to meeting the urgent needs of the people in terms of training, research, and healthcare.
In particular, this is a key component in realizing the goal of developing the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, according to the national "University-Hospital" model, aiming to achieve international standards and building the University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, to meet the standards of advanced hospitals in Southeast Asia, and eventually achieve international standards.

The People's Committee of Hue City is committed to supporting the school throughout the operation of the facility, creating the most favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, procedures, infrastructure, and research, training, and medical examination and treatment environments. In addition, it will support the connection of the facility with the local healthcare system and with major hospitals in the region, facilitating international cooperation and technology transfer.
"The city is also working alongside the school to improve the quality of healthcare services, aiming towards the common goal of building Hue into a specialized medical center in Southeast Asia," Mr. Phan Quy Phuong emphasized.

Furthermore, it enhances the university's practical training and scientific research capabilities, serving the people of Hue, the Central and Central Highlands regions, and the entire country.
